Happy Sunday everyone. How many weeks does EHD mean? First, we had an incredible tour of Carly (where we came to have an EHD retreat), then revealed the most beautiful garage door we’ve ever seen, closing it off with a full tour of Jess’ dad’s DIY cabin in the woods. I promise I have just as much as you next week! But for now, there is this week’s link.
This week’s house tour It’s the house Zilla Drahn. If you are not familiar with her name, we can promise you that you know her job. She is a pet owner and a plant genius Plants and space. Her Spanish colonial home is as creative and unique as you would expect from anyone who creates such a beautiful plant design. Please check it!!
From Emily: We’ve made a lot of subtle changes around here and are rethinking how we essentially made them better, fresher, newer and more enjoyable. One of them is a newsletter. This was a daily email about what we were writing about that day, but like everything, it can sometimes feel old and robotic. So Mal makes it more customised, interesting and experimenting with a lot. There are some bonus content too!! There’s a big launch that’s super exciting in two weeks, so subscribe to our newsletter for a new experience that adds a lot of fun and general design value. It’s a way to remind you of the articles of the day, but also to represent some special content and resurface old posts that we all might be thinking about now. Sign up here!!!
Also from Emily: Today you’re getting a bonus YouTube. There are plenty of sneak peaks in the 1850 carriage house we are beginning to restore (that’s such a beast, guys). We haven’t blogged about it yet, but Gretchen and Marley put together a fun BTS that cleaned it up and showed me my Christmas reservoir. Look at it here (and that means the world to us :))
From Emily: A little Portland people! Next Saturday (July 26th) there will be a big local event with 32 manufacturers/Small businesses (some of my absolute favorites). think pigeon toe ceramic, Nik Nik Studio, Ace and Jigthere are plenty of vintage, food, music and drinks. 10-4pm, 424 N. Tillamook Street. I’m out of town so I’m very angry (I think my kids like this).
From Caitlyn: Netflix? Hulu? Max? peacock? I’ve never heard of them. This year, I was hooked on America’s best streaming services: PBS! I donated $60 (it’s only $5 a month) to my local station Passport Accessyou can stream the entire active PBS library at any time. Episode programming is very good – I’m biased Amanpour & Co., News Hour, Nova, Antique Road Show (clearly), Space time, Find your rootsplease check it out (I love to watch Philadelphia edition – It brings me closer to home! ), Stargeret. Al. – And the choice of documentary is unparalleled. (I worshiped this Shaker’s Kenburns DocumentaryIt was recently recommended by the REATH Design team. ) I feel the rest of the media ecosystem is noisy, fragmented or polarized, but I always make the PBS app feel smarter, calmer and happier (not a word associated with many other streaming experiences). This is an app designed to appeal to better angels! I love you, PBS Passport. (Additional bonus: It’s not been a good time to support public broadcasts!
From Jess: As you read yesterday, I’m in the woods of my father’s shed (fortunately not under the house, it’s still an insulated pipe). Anyway, being in the woods means I need bug spray… bad. My sweet, sweet blood makes me the main target for mosquito bites. My dad told me about this clearly amazing All-natural mosquito repellent From a company called a telephone Skiter skating. He was out and I ordered a few. Of course, La Mosquito is also obsessed with me. If it sounds like you’re bragging, I’m not. It’s even better as I’m excited to try this new repellent from small businesses.
Also from Jess: In this week’s market research, I found it This incredible bowl/vapor From H&M! It’s so unique and I’ll buy it right away if I have the space. I had to share it
From Mallory: Introduction My sandals for summer (And after that). I’m absolutely hooked on these shoes. Because I can easily slip in without buckle (I’m very annoyed by the buckle, TBH), and after they broke completely they became very comfortable. They are very high quality and go with all the outfits. Highly recommended if you need a nice new summer shoe!
From Arlin: Are you famous for remembering to take your vitamins? Then we are the same, you and me. I have a (locked) drawer in the kitchen dedicated to all the vitamins and supplements. For some reason, it’s very difficult to go there every day. I tried all the tricks. Set reminders on your phone, move the vitamins to a more convenient location, stack your habits and take them at times when you’re already doing other things. That wasn’t until I got These are from Perelle It just clicked. I think all the pills are in one handy little packet, so it’s very easy to go out with breakfast. It’s very convenient. I haven’t missed a day in three months. (I’m taking it for the record Concept Support Packit was basically their prenatal and my nutritionist suggested taking whether I was about to get pregnant or not).
From Marlee: Last week, EM posted an Instagram story asking for curly recs. Verb Ghost Oilespecially for thin hair. I just emptied my third bottle ouai hair oil (I love it, great if you like the jasmine scent), but I’ve always been down to test new products, so I decided to swirl the verb oil, and that’s a good thing. It’s very thick from the bottle but doesn’t weigh my hair at all. It also gives you more sparkle without looking greasy/oil-like. There is little scent, but I don’t mind. I feel like this guy will come back more. Thank you to everyone who provided us with Rec!
From Veronica (Special Guest and EHD Alum!): My brother released his first book and I am so proud of him! This is an action-packed SCIFI novel based on the once-admired unknown species on Earth, but has been feared for the past 30 years. Bend over for a journey of discovery, friendship and love. If you’re enjoying SCIFI (or even if you’re not), grab this book for your next read!
From the author Nick: Hello Friends! Bright highway Like other staple foods in the science fiction genre, there is plenty of action, suspense and drama, but it is fundamentally a tale of other, tribalism and mixed identity. I don’t know how many of you share my interracial backgrounds, but bright highways are like my love letter to the beauty of the blend tribe, and I think that message is more and more important today. From Gretchen: If you’re a dedicated Sunday link-up leader, you may remember what I talked about a few weeks ago My paddle board. And yes, I’m still digging it! However, I have some complaints about how slowly I am working on improvements. The first one is the hand pump that comes with it. It just sucks up the fun from the experience and inflates and inflates all the energy first. If you have the money to upgrade to electric, that’s a must, IMO. But don’t make the same mistake as me. Make sure it comes with the right valve adapter! If you are using the same Retrospec paddle board as me, please go ahead Get the same brand pump And what I’m having trouble finding a cheaper version on Amazon is that it doesn’t fit the valve hole. Second, if you are planning to drink and float (like most of us) then snuggle This wonderful cup holder! It sticks to your board, loops through the bungee cord, and keeps your can upright. genius! But if you are planning on drinking and floating, don’t lose your phone like I just did. I was out into the river and suddenly turned over by a large boat wave. The bungee cord on the board holds almost everything down except my precious iPhone. So now I will not go back there This tethered phone holdereven if you don’t, make sure it remains tied up.
Thank you for stopping by, please check out y’all tomorrow. xx
