Happy Sunday everyone. In case you missed it, PDX Gal made another incredibly fun and funny YouTube video Garage storage plans (PS Ikea was a star. Check it out. If you haven’t subscribed, I’d really appreciate it if you clicked that button too 🙂 OK, go to the link.

This week’s house tour It’s from the incredible heart of a design studio. Crave. It is a newly rentable townhouse, a place where Surrealist discovers the wonders of Art Deco. You just need to go see 🙂

From Emily: I think the most important link of the week is a big cry for Gretchen and Marlee, my PDX dream teams, who tag team up the YouTube series (among many other jobs). I was nervous about adding another platform to my workload, but they make it very easy. If you’re a longtime reader (thank you!), or just land for the day. Episode 1 and Episode 2 Carriage House Reorg (and yes, you will be on a tour soon, I promise). And for the love of the gods of algorithms, if you’re into it, comment and share, subscribe! (It makes a huge difference in how YouTube shares with others). We are so much fun and they both work hard on it, even just learning the job, so give them love – they deserve it!

Also from Emily: shout out at our new AI comment technology (thank you, Caitlyn!) – there is an AI that can detect when a comment is negative and filter it for human approval, but all other comments will be autopublished soon. This is very exciting. Because even if we had been watching comments for years, we had to consider them as “pending” if we wanted to enter the backend and comment to people (you’ve got to sign in to comment like me. 95% of comments are lovely, supportive, or even constructive (I think it’s generally useful), but the typical few who were meant to ruin our day have made it hard to go to the backend. I have thick skin, but distractions and derailments do damage and, worse, they’ve made me feel like the whole world I was able to be more cynical. My anxiety soars, and then my dark thoughts about my career/future go spiral (literally no one, especially my great team). So this technology is great, because I can quickly join your non-negative published comments. Then someone on my team read the suspicious comments and will publish them later in the day if they are appropriate. If the comments aren’t published immediately, I found something that AI thinks is negative. This happened to me twice – I wrote “shooting” in one, then another “I hate…” and kept these two for approval. So essentially, AI technology can rule out what appears to be “negative” and then exclude whether humans will come out and publish, but during that time I don’t see any of them, and all positive comments and questions will be published immediately. Taking my Belize post (the first post we tried this), I was able to answer all the questions with confidence, knowing it was safe (and I wasn’t going to read anything hated about my family). This is by no means perfect, but it’s only been a week and I really enjoyed engaging in comments in a way that feels completely healthy and safe. Three cheers for using AI for good and EHD.

Also from Emily: attn Portland people (and others who need encouragement to become tourists in your own state). We lived here for four years and couldn’t love the nature of PNW more (certainly, November-February can get rough, but once we started skiing it was much better, meaning snow here). I was very naturally hooked (this is the main reason I live here, my opinion), but like vergo + enneagram 7 I am, I really want a fun weekend agenda. So I always have four books to refer to. I know that you can get a lot of information on the internet, but I don’t always love being on the internet, so I have a small library to refer to on Saturday mornings and plan ways to torture my family through a waterfall hike. 1. Oregon and Washington hike 50 with kids By Wendy Gorton. Through this, children will give thumbs and help them choose. 2. Portland Family Adventure Jen Stevenson. A fantastic and thorough city guide to all the best things related to various elderly people (internal activities and day trips). 3. Portland date book Eden Dawn and Ashod Simonian. I love this – yes, there are more for adult dates, but it offers many good ideas about what you can do, weird sites to see, restaurants and more predictable date night stuff. 4. City x 60: Portland (60 local creatives bring you the best city). This is about cool design, art and creative. There’s less family stuff, but if you have friends in town, it’s a great inspirational insider perspective. Also, if you need a guide on “what to do while visiting Portland” please let us know in the comments. I’m not an expert (again, only four years ago) and every restaurant in California that visited us, every time hits, bike rides, and even Krappier’s moon is amazing. (Powells!) But I did have a convenient link.

From Gretchen: If you’re like me and like the smell of sunscreen, I wish you could bottle it and wear the scent of a sunny beach day. And don’t be surprised if people praise you for it! Anthropologie’s “Beach Trip” Perfume It smelled perfect for me this summer. It is light and airy, slightly floral, a bit coconut-y, neither of which is too strong. It smells like sunscreen completely to me, and I can’t stop spraying it. Perfumes are usually quite expensive, but Anthro’s line costs just $24 for a full-size bottle. Some reviews mention that the smell sinks after a while, but I really didn’t notice. I rubbed a light layer of petrolatum jelly on my skin first, then sprayed and the smell lasts for a long time on me. But be careful, when you enter for a hug, you will be complacent!

From Marley: I’m always looking for a shirt to step up from a t-shirt or tank top, but nothing too complicated – This shirt from Madewell That’s exactly what it is – I grabbed it in white but I might have to go back Striped ones. It’s a very simple loose fit, but I love it having a bit of a cinch on the waist and drapes on the sides. It falls just above my waist (I say I have a slightly shorter torso, so it might be trimmed more for people with a longer torso), but if I wear it with something with a higher waist I like being able to cut it out more. It’s not a thru-through, it’s a very soft fabric and super breezy/airy. At the time it was an SOS, so I got the size XS. It definitely fits well, but next time I’ll be even more loose and sized for a Drapia fit. I can’t stop wearing it – I repeated the same clothes four times last week 🙂

From Arlyn: I had exhausted my huge Costco moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, so I wanted something lighter, fresher and easier to travel with. A few years ago, on my old personal blog, I did a review of the shampoo bar. Earthling Co. It was my favorite so I tapped it this time and I’m very happy. My hair is beautiful, elastic and never weighs. Two giant plastic bottles do not occupy the room in the shower caddy. victory! I also picked it up Conditioner bar and This silicon storage/travel caseI’m perfect for my shower to hide my bar. Ah, and the best part? Everything is 20% off per month for free July sales of plastic, so stock is in stock!

From Mallory: Have you ever packed a suitcase for a trip and forgotten something important? ! Well, I packed it for Hawaii and forgot my swimsuit (cool!). So I had to go on that classic “SOS, you need to wear a bathing suit right now” shopping trip. Then I stumbled on the most affordable and super cute swimsuit!! It was $20 bottom $25 topand the tie has the cutest little ball details, which makes the fabric look even more expensive. They have it in white and red, and when I tell you… this is now one of my favorite suits.

Also from Mallory: I hooked this cover up set (top and bottom) From H&M when I was there too…it was great and I adore the stripes so much.

From Jess: I was with my cousin on Sunday, so we RGan affordable jewelry store set for a little woman in Atwater Village. There are a few more expensive pieces, but most of the things I saw (and bought) were very reasonable. I got it These thin, daily gold hoops and These sweet little tricrystal cluster studs For my new second hall. Both were under $50, but I love how special it is…but they are simple 🙂

Also from Jess: I’ve finally invested in some new bras I love. I tried my third love, negative underwear and more, but wasn’t so impressed. I really hate the added padding so I wore the cheap mesh cup one on my last leg. Then, when one of my best friends was visiting last month, she was raving about her Fleur du Mar bra. I tried it and ordered it immediately. I ordered first Black lace stuff because Their “T-shirt bra” It was out of stock. Once I got it, it was the only bra I wanted to wear as it was comfortable but still a little sexy. When the t-shirt bra was back in stock, I added it to my cart a few days ago and got it. The cup is soft (not a pad!) and smooth under the top. It’s also a very funny flattering. I feel incredible with both of them, it feels so good. There are no more slightly sad bras that fit “well enough.”

From Caitlyn: I was lucky enough to spend this weekend with my mom and she treated me to a cute pair of summer pyjamas! They are from jockeys (!!!) and they are super budget friendly, and top and bottom You can purchase individually to make it ideal for sizing. I love them – the photos don’t do justice to them! I’m obsessed with the details of the camis and plumbing around my legs. I can’t get enough ribbon tie on the bottom. And they are very comfortable. I got the XL on top (I was able to down the size here, but I’m 36F!) and I have an XL on the bottom. They are so cute, I’m excited to change from daytime lounge clothes to my evening lounge clothes! Highly recommended as a summer vacation, sleeping party or general pickup. I slept in them every night this week and am very pleased with their price:value ratio – they feel like a pair of splugy printfresh PJ at some cost. Thank you to Brenda!!!

They also wanted to give love and support to those affected by the floods in Texas. More than ever, it feels like there is an endless event of incredible harm and devastation, whether it is human or essential. We are very grateful for all of the people on the ground for their help.

Thank you for spending some time today and see me tomorrow. xx
