Happy Sunday everyone. We hope you enjoyed reading everything we posted this week 🙂 We are so proud and happy. In case you missed it, Aaryn wrote a beautiful article about folk art, Emily talked about the real cost of repairing the foundation of a guest cottage, and then Em gave Carly a stunning holiday makeover, and then Em redeveloped her living room with the sofa she designed for it. Of course, there were others. You can easily check it out by visiting the site, but do you know what this means??It’s exciting! And before we get into these links, I want to share something fun… Tomorrow I’ll be releasing the MOTO reveal you’ve been waiting for, yay!!! Now, it’s time for the links.
This week’s house tour This is the home of none other than the legend Diane Keaton. AD has republished her 2008 Beverly Hills Spanish Colonial Revival piece, and it’s as timeless as you’d expect. I think most of us have her infamous design book, Home built by Pinterest. What a gift she is to all of us and we are so grateful for everything she has created.
From Emily: You know, I think Madewell nailed barrel jeans more than any other brand (in my opinion). While others are too high-waisted, too full, or too long, theirs are still “big pants” yet slim. I have the mid-wash denim and cream and was very happy to see they expanded (and sold out) the line with the same profile. this moss green one. Also, Also available in a denim version with cargo pockets on the front. (I think it’s always nice) It’s been sold out, but many sizes are currently in stock. Depending on fit, go down 1-2 sizes. It’s not a tight fit, but it’s quite oversized and sizing Madewell is just so difficult. So I have two sizes. One is for everyday use when you want a snug fit around your waist, and the other is for when you want it to fit higher on your hips and around your butt.
From Jess: Look, I’m not here to cause trouble, but since Emily posted about her favorite pajamas last week, I thought I might as well throw my new beloved jammies into the ring. It’s a brand called Hanes, have you ever heard of it? lol. They’re incredibly soft, lightweight, extremely affordable, and somehow feel cool when you’re wearing them. This isn’t required, but it’s a fun bonus. I’m wearing it shorts I think the size is perfect around my waist. However, if you want a little more room or want to wear them lower, consider sizing up. Oh, I loved the color I bought, and of course it was Stargazer Gray. I got it too shirt It’s my typical size and fits me perfectly. Well, it was the first cold rainy day of the season in Los Angeles, so… pants As a warm option 🙂 I really can’t recommend it enough!!
From Aaryn: I have a long history of spending huge amounts of money on skin care and makeup, but these days I feel like everything I do costs about a semester’s worth of college tuition, so I’ve been working on finding alternatives. I was very lucky This $15 ELF Halo Glow “Filter” I wrote about it this summer, but I’m happy to report that I’ve found another drugstore win. No.7 Serum Foundation. It’s perfect for my combination skin, it glides on smoothly and provides great coverage, but it’s also very airy and leaves a subtle glow without feeling greasy. I tried applying it both with my fingers and with a foundation brush and both worked fine. At about $18, you can’t ask for more.
From Mallory: I’m passionate about this, guys…I’ve never been a nail girl because I don’t have the patience to sit in a nail salon, but I love the feeling of having my nails done, so I’ve been really trying. My nails are also very thin so I have to paint them to make them longer (I also bite them sometimes, oops). Anyway, enter the least messy nail solution I’ve ever seen. dazzle dry. My best friend was visiting from New York and told me that she used to travel from the Upper East Side to (distant) Brooklyn every month to get a Russian manicure, but she ran out of time. So she researched all the home nail solutions out there and found her solution. She also said that although she sounds like a snake oil salesman trying so hard to sell this product to people, it’s not snake oil and it’s just that much better. But the problem with most home nail solutions is that either the polish takes forever to dry (and therefore gets smudged), or you have to set up a whole gel, which also takes a long time. Apply this to your nails and it will dry quickly. Like within a minute. It’s crazy. The best feature is that since it is a gel, it lasts for a very long time. I cannot recommend this enough!
From Caitlin: I’m also passionate about my links lol. Remember how I praised PBS Passport? I wish I had sold you, but I just stumbled upon the greatest TV show of all time. antique road trip. (It’s me shouting and emphasizing, and rightly so.) Here, a pair of antiques experts pair up, hop in beautiful classic cars, and traverse Britain’s finest charity, vintage and antique stores. While this is technically a nifty show in the tradition of The Great British Bake Off, a competition show where experts compete in auctions, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable watch that will take away the frustrations of shopping from the comfort of your sofa. The best part? There are 30 seasons and 905 episodes to watch. I really can’t imagine being so happy with such a cozy show this winter. I’m so glad I found this show. (And if anyone has any interest in HGTV, please bring something like this to America! I just want to see what people choose! It’s so fun to see what the experts are attracted to and why! Can you tell I’m obsessed with women?!)
From Gretchen: I really needed a new phone case because the one I bought a few years ago finally broke down. The rubber is peeling off in pieces, and it’s fun to peel it off, but little by little, when I’m bored, my friends are starting to criticize me… But that doesn’t mean I don’t have advice to solve the problem. Inspired by two of my friends, I bought a new case from CaseMate (a brand they trust). This one! I have the purple iPhone 14 Pro in the photo, and I love the way it looks through the clear, glittery shell. I won’t go back to the rubberized case because it’s obviously dirty, but I got this too rubber suction cup phone mount To get free shipping. You can purchase it at Cheap with only adhesive on the back sideHowever, I chose the MagSafe version for myself so I could attach and detach it to use other magnetic phone mounts. I’ve been eyeing this suction-type selfie mount for a while, so I’m looking forward to trying it out. But I’m even more excited to get a phone case that doesn’t look like it was found in the trash! What’s more, this seems to last a really long time!
From Marley: That’s right. It’s cold now (I haven’t turned on the heating yet). As someone like me who hates the cold, I’d like to introduce you to some items that are absolutely non-negotiable to ease the change of seasons. The first and most important thing is my favorite slippers. Well, I don’t think they’re technically slippers since they don’t actually “slip” (more like boots!), but ankle protection is essential. I need to keep my toes and ankles warm… These are very comfortable and I wear them every day. Fun fact, did you know that UGGs were invented to keep surfers’ feet warm after coming out of the cold ocean?Next: my warm blanket. This will make your movie night even more pleasant. You can set the temperature in 4 levels, and it will automatically turn off after a certain amount of time! Finally, my favorite thermos Mug – No one forgets freshly brewed tea as much as I do…this allows you to pour it, forget it, come back an hour later and enjoy a *very* strongly brewed (and still hot) cup.
Thank you for stopping by. See you tomorrow for the big moto announcement. xx
