Chic Decor to Shop for Your Office This Fall

It’s the beginning of September, which means our shopping editors are excited about a few things: the return of pumpkin-scented luxury candles, fall fashion, and Pinterest’s Fall Trend Report coming to life. Based on the proclamations of the Pinterest gods this year, our offices are in for a major treat, as the term “chic cubicle decor” rose in search by 1,543 percent on the platform and “cubicle makeover ideas” witnessed an even more pronounced boom, skyrocketing by 2,767 percent. In other words, people are looking for new ways to dress up their offices, now more than ever: taking them from drab to dreamy with just a few purchases.

As back-to-office policies are becoming widespread and Covid-era WFH spaces are being sunsetted as a result, we’re all back to spending the majority of our days in tight, air-conditioned spaces with free coffee and bubbling water coolers. So it’s of utmost importance to decorate your cubicle in a way that helps you look forward to clocking in each day, or, as Pinterest puts it, to make “every corner an inspiring, unique escape.” Specifically, decor-obsessed, Pinterest-scrolling DIYers are in pursuit of corporate surroundings that look “luxe” and “cute,” but since these adjectives are quite subjective, you might be left racking your brain on how exactly to initiate the journey of brightening and elevating your nine-to-five sanctuary.

Luckily, we’re here to simplify the process with invaluable insights from top interior design experts for whom dressing up offices is a walk in the park. Lauren Kyle, principal designer and owner of Kyle & Co Design Studio, thinks the most impactful additions to any office are those that make it not a mirror image of your home but homey nonetheless. “Work-from-home shifted everyone’s mindset, as people realized how much their environment impacts mood and productivity. Now that many are back in offices, they’re craving that same sense of personalization and comfort at their desk,” she tells WWD. “This could [manifest in] a beautiful ceramic catchall instead of a plastic pen cup, a sculptural lamp that feels collected, or swapping the standard office chair for something upholstered and textured.”

Because the best advice is the kind that’s followed to a tee by the advice-giver themselves, Kyle shares the steps she’s taking while setting up her own office at Kyle & Co: “My goal is to make it feel warm and inviting, more like a thoughtfully styled living space than a traditional office. I’m layering in area rugs to ground the room, vintage side chairs I sourced on a recent trip, and a beautiful Danish bouclé sitting chair that has this sculptural but cozy feel.”

But in case all you’re working with is three gray walls of a cubicle and several square feet of a desk’s surface area, it’s still possible to turn your office into something creativity-sparking and beautiful. “You don’t need a full renovation to bring trends into a corporate space. It can be as simple as [introducing] a small desk lamp with an Art Deco silhouette, adding a patterned fabric cushion to your desk chair, or even styling your workspace with vintage items that work on your desktop,” says Kyle.

Vintage-inspired decor, after all, is another breakout trend highlighted in Pinterest’s findings for fall 2025. The phrases “Art Deco interior 1920s vintage,” “vintage tiles,” and “vintage fall aesthetic” are generating traction as individuals are turning to clothes and objects laden with character. If you’re not into antique clocks, banker lamps, and intentionally tarnished trinket boxes that add dimension to otherwise sterile office settings, fear not: The main thing here is to have a unifying aesthetic, whatever that may be.

“Friends ask me all the time what to do to make their office space feel fresh. I suggest the inclusion of plants, battery-operated desk lighting, and framed art that makes the area more styled,” shares Brittny Button, interior designer and founder of Button Atelier. “The key is to make sure there’s a centralized theme to it all, no matter if it’s a luxe ‘old money’ look or a minimalist vibe you’re after.”

As with any room, good design in an office starts with identifying its focal points. “Think of styling [your cubicle] as a mini room with your laptop and monitor being the central focus. Bear in mind, both tend to be black in color, and this ‘void’ area needs to be balanced with decor like sculptures, art, and acrylic office accessories,” Button tells us.

Like Kyle, Button believes choosing chic decor pieces for your cubicle that make you feel something is always a safe bet, whether that be energized, calm, or curious. “The use of color and lighting can create these kinds of effects,” she mentions. “Add in a colorful piece of art or choose to bring in warm lighting to offset the fluorescent one overhead.”

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is a particularly hot-right-now decor category that’s as perfect for renters as it is for office-goers who don’t want to make unalterable changes to their cubicle walls. Battery-operated lamps, per Button’s suggestion, are also a marvelous choice that saves you from the mess of extra cords and having to search for another outlet. And if you’re the type of person to flood your office with photos of Fido, your children, your parents, and your S.O., an out-of-the-ordinary frame just might be the magic ingredient for making the entire setup feel fresh for the new season.

“ Biophilic design has also been trending and continues to resonate into AW25 and to next year. We’re basically bringing nature indoors, which allows us to create a space that we can work in while also being allowed to relax and recharge,” says Tony Kou, senior director of merchandising and planning at the e-commerce marketplace Society6. Think actual plants, yes, but also organically shaped accent pieces that channel the outdoors, desk organizers in various shades of green, and even desktop fountains (of the non-tacky variety) for finding zen amidst all the meetings that could’ve just been emails.

Echoing Button, Kou suggests “anchoring” your office decor mindfully and strategically. “I actually think about it the same way I did when I worked in fashion and apparel. You want one or two statement pieces that show personality, and then you ground them with neutrals so the look feels polished,” Kou, who has a background at Michael Kors, Prada, Bloomingdale’s, and more, says. “In fashion, that might be a patterned jacket with a simple shirt and trousers; in decor, it could be a bold art print balanced by neutral desk accessories or textiles. That balance is what makes it chic without ever feeling distracting.”

Finally, because offices are marked by smooth, textureless laminate, plastic, metal, wood, and other materials that capitalize on durability versus looks, it’s crucial to introduce your own textural touches to the equation, like  those derived from ceramics that have a special meaning to you, “botanicals, or woven finishes that bring comfort, depth, and calmness without overwhelming the small space,” according to Kou.

Chasing Paper x Susan Alexandra Felicity Stripe Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper

Wallpaper is one of the most low-lift ways to make a room feel instantly cozy, like something out of a fictional bed-and-breakfast inn with four-poster beds. And in case you’re tired of looking at the “same old, same old” gray walls of your cubicle, removable wallpaper will be your best friend. This one from Chasing Paper’s collaboration with accessory designer Susan Alexandra — who’s know for her full-of-life, color-happy designs — is playful and put-together in equal measure. Putting up the self-adhesive poly-woven fabric is a breeze, because we know you have dozens of emails to respond to. Lucky enough to have a few desk drawers at your disposal? Use any leftover wallpaper to line them, eliminating waste and gaining major style points in the meantime.

Light up your (corp-core) life with a mini table lamp from the brand whose limited-edition Stanley tumblers you already own in multiples. We can’t get over this lighting essential’s delicate, patterned linen shade, bow motif at center, gilded finish, and warm glow. TikTok’s “no big light” rule is real, and though you probably can’t tell your boss to turn off the overhead fluorescents, having your own source of calming light is the next best thing.

Terrain Floral Block Print Seat Cushion

Ergonomic, pressure-relieving seat cushions begone! Trade them in for something chicer this season, like Terrain’s Floral Block Print Seat Cushion that works just as well on a lawn chair as it does on a company-issued swivel chair. Tufted, soft enough to spare your sit bones from EOD pain, and elegant as can be, it’s the kind of purchase that will have you running to the office each morning in anticipation. As showcased by labels from Prada to Bally on fall 2025 runways, vintage floral prints are so in right now. Don’t miss the moment.

Dior Trinket Tray

“Lately, I’ve been obsessed with artisanal tilework that feels storied,” Kyle shares with us, and we’re taking that to heart with this recommendation: a Dior tray resembling the hand-painted tiles you might find while strolling around Portuguese streets. Embellished with a timeless rose symbol, the 100-percent ceramic, French-made trinket dish is full of romanticism and femininity: two things there should be more of in the modern workspace. You’ll love it so much that you will get another one to serve as a spoon rest in your kitchen!

Jonathan Adler Globo Bookends

$425

Buy Now at jonathan adler

Green, alongside brown and burgundy, is dominating our fall color palettes this year — in homes and on runways both — and these Jonathan Adler bookends, resembling glossy globes, are a way to nod to the hue while keeping things light (which is ironic, considering they’re heavy enough to support the tomes you keep at your cubicle). Fused with two L-shaped, polished brass bases, the acrylic spheres will become your corner’s ultimate conversation pieces and offer up a place of rest for your eyes after they’ve stared at a computer screen for far too long.

Benefitting from an on-trend, mustard-yellow coloring, the object is luxe without taking itself too seriously. Use it for a floral arrangement brought from home (or delivered straight to your desk by a secret admirer), then repurpose as a catchall for all your stationery and other office-related paraphernalia.

Every detail feels rich here, from the butter illustrations to the quality of the paper itself. The best part? The art comes pre-framed, just waiting to make its home by your laptop.

Anthropologie Rug Mouse Pad

We’re just as disappointed as you are that it’s impossible to haul a beloved rug from home into your workplace (unless you have your own corner office à la Miranda Priestly). Anthropologie comes in clutch with a solution, though, in the form of a mouse pad that looks like a costly Persian rug. Ornate, soft, and made with your mouse’s responsiveness in mind, it’s the kind of indulgent buy that will spark joy each and every time you put it to good use. In this case, that will be for eight hours every day — as spreadsheets are suddenly made more palatable thanks to its underhand plushness.
