This year, the sale runs from Oct. 7 (starting at 3 a.m. ET) and runs through Oct. 8. Like Prime Day, you do need to be a Prime member to shop – but you can always sign up for a 7-day trial for $1.99.

Prime Big Deal Days is a two-day sale on Amazon open only to Prime members. If you’re thinking, “That sounds like Prime Day 2, the sequel,” well … you’re pretty much right. In fact, Amazon is replaying some of its Prime Day playbook for Prime Big Deal Days, including:
- It’s open ONLY to Amazon Prime members. You’ll need to sign up for Amazon Prime to take part. When the sale starts, just log in to your Prime account and shop as usual. You’ll automatically get the sale price.
- Some deals are invite only. We saw Amazon try this during Prime Day, to control the rush for select deals (and avoid shopper frustration at things selling out quickly). Before Prime Big Deal Days, sign up for the invite-only deals you want – Amazon will email you if it selects you as one of the lucky few who will be able to purchase them.
- Lots of deals will be on Amazon’s own stuff. This is Amazon’s sale after all, so expect special discounts on Amazon devices (like Echo devices) and Amazon memberships (like Audible).
Prime Big Deal Days Vs. Black Friday: What’s the Difference?
Amazon Prime Big Deal Days in October and Amazon’s Black Friday sale in November have some similarities. They’re both giant sales geared at early holiday shopping. Both will likely have the best deals of the year on Amazon products, tech, clothing, home goods and more. In fact, you’ll likely see a lot of repeat deals on Black Friday.
The main difference is that Prime Big Deal Days is for Prime members only, and the Black Friday sale will be open to ALL shoppers. Also, in past years, Amazon’s Black Friday sale tends to be a bigger deal than its early holiday Prime-only sale, with deeper discounts across a wider variety of products. That’s because Black Friday is the biggest sale of the year, period, across all retailers. That doesn’t mean you should wait until Black Friday, though. Unlike many popular gifts, such as clothing or home decor items, toys have a tendency to sell out during the rush of the holiday shopping season. If you know of a specific toy your little one has their eye on, and you see it available at a discount on Prime Big Deal Days, we recommend purchasing it during the sale and not waiting until a later date.
Gift Cards
In our opinion, you can never go wrong with purchasing a discounted gift card – as long as you are likely to use it. Purchasing gift cards on sale is basically like adding free money to your wallet. You can put that gift card towards your holiday shopping or give it as a gift this holiday season.
Small Kitchen Appliances
Small kitchen appliances are guaranteed to be on sale during Black Friday, and you might even see deeper discounts then. However, if you need a particular appliance to help in your Thanksgiving meal preparations, consider purchasing it during Prime Big Deal Days instead so it can be put to good use.

There will be TVs on sale during Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale, but we expect to see more deals and deeper discounts during Black Friday.
Vacuums and Robot Vacuums
We expect to see deals on all kinds of vacuums during Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale, including Dyson vacuums and iRobot Roomba robot vacuums. That being said, we also know that these will be on sale during Black Friday, and at that point, you will be able to scope out the competition and see which retailer is offering the best deal. These items aren’t likely to sell out, so if you can hold off for a few weeks, you might as well wait to see if the deals improve on Amazon or at any other retailer
Clothing and Footwear
Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale is likely to include some apparel and footwear savings, as Prime Day sales of the past always have. That being said, this category is not typically the standout for savings during Amazon’s major sales. You are better off waiting until Black Friday when you can scope out other retailers’ sales as well and compare them to Amazon’s offerings.
