If you’ve been following the street-style trends that have popped up during this year’s Copenhagen Fashion Week and Berlin Fashion Week, you’re well aware that it wasn’t all just color-happy outerwear sightings and animal-print fur hats beating back the chill of a European winter. Our shopping editors are natural skeptics when it comes to fashion and accessories labels that arrive on the scene suddenly and are absorbed into wardrobes just as quickly. After conducting rigorous research on DeMellier’s origins, most popular releases, and manufacturing practices, though, we’d be remiss not to recommend the circa-2010 handbag destination as something you must augment your winter style with. And we’re not alone in this proclamation, as experts like the TikTok-viral leather tanner Tanner Leatherstein (real name: Volkan Yilmaz) have also discovered (in his case by fully ripping apart DeMellier’s The Vancouver Bag) that the offerings in question are high-value and boast durable compositions capable of withstanding the test of time.

DeMellier was launched by Mireia Llusia-Lindh, who holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and has worked as a strategy advisor for luxury goods firms like Burberry and LVMH. What this means: Llusia-Lindh learned the fashion industry inside and out before she went live with Milli Millu, DeMellier’s original name that was switched in 2017. What’s more, the brand gives back and does so in a very real way: funding lifesaving vaccines and medical treatments for children in need around the world with every purchase made. Llusia-Lindh’s design team is entirely female, and DeMellier manages to stand apart from competitors via generous perks like free monogramming on every bag bought directly on its site. The best part? It doesn’t gatekeep even the hottest available styles, instead distributing them across womenswear retailers like Nordstrom, Shopbop, Net-a-Porter, and Mytheresa, where everything from the aforementioned The Vancouver to The Small Hudson that’s been worn by Kate Middleton is fully stocked and at your service.
We included DeMellier in our 2025 roundup of affordable handbag brands for a reason. “With prices ranging from $355 – $750, DeMellier’s bags… offe[r] luxe quality at a mid-tier price point,” WWD Shop‘s previous commerce editor Lauren Fisher reported. In other words, there’s nothing Walmart Birkin–adjacent about these buys, but that’s exactly why they’re so prized by Hollywood A-listers and fashion insiders alike — exuding a sense of opulence while never reaching the four figures.

Recently, DeMellier’s finest has rounded out the outfits of Emma Roberts, Emily Ratajkowski, Katie Holmes, Kristen Bell, Reese Witherspoon, and no shortage of other tastemakers, who showed favor to models like The Midi New York, the Siena Saddle Bag (which complemented Holmes’ casual-chic, daytime getup last year), The New York, and The Midi Hudson. The through line connecting all these names consists of elements like gold-plated locks, adjustable straps, and the kind of pebbled leather you want to run your hand over time and time again. The wide range of said celebrities’ DeMellier bag stylings proves their sheer versatility, too — whether teamed up with straight-leg denim; fur-lined, longline coats; turtlenecks; or wool midi skirts.
