The real-life Carrie Bradshaw steps out onto the snow-covered streets of New York, looking flawless, of course. One minute Sarah Jessica Parker is seduced by a roasted nut vendor. Next, she’s sitting in her cozy living room decorated in “Ralph Lauren Christmas” and typing the following prompt into her phone. “I’m shopping for clothes that have a classic holiday New York vibe that would be perfect for a friend’s downtown party.”
This is not a heart-to-heart with ChatGPT, but part of a campaign video depicting SJP’s recent efforts. Google Shopping’s AI-powered try-on tool This allows users to not only shop and choose the perfect outfit for different occasions, but also to see how a list of billions of apparel products will look on their body (or the body of their gift recipient) when unwrapped and worn.
In the aforementioned campaign, shot by Chloe Horsman and directed by Max Bartik, Parker ultimately settles into a bow-embellished cocktail dress, and it’s easy to imagine her going from holiday dinner to downtown soiree in no time. She hops into a cab and drives off with the Christmas spirit, but also the peace of mind that modern technology has all the equation for her holiday outfit.
During a phone interview, I asked Parker if he thought Google’s innovation came close to imitating the pure emotion of visiting a designer store in person: touching each piece of fabric, talking to a salesperson, and catching that final, breathtaking glimpse in a dressing room mirror.
“I’m confident that AI hasn’t been able to replicate that yet,” she told WWD. “But all the speculation that happens in the meantime, [during online shopping] — For example, “Does my hair color match my height?” Would this be a good gift for someone a little taller than me? — is cut out. ”
Parker himself has experienced many disappointments when it comes to online shopping. She says she was “seduced” by the model’s appearance, but only after receiving the product did she realize that the model’s measurements were so different from Parker’s own 5-foot-3 frame that it effectively negates its appeal. However, with Google, you can easily measure the proportions of a particular dress, jeans, blouse, or anything else that has piqued your interest on the Internet recently.
It also has an element of whimsy. According to Parker, “[the technology] Why not try your hand at fashion aesthetics that until now could only be admired from a distance?
decided to try it Try-on function For myself, I found the learning curve to be non-existent. To start the process, I uploaded a full-body selfie to the online software. I then selected a size for my mini-me body shape (cutting-edge technology is key to ensuring it accommodates my unique body shape) and generated four stylized versions of myself in a variety of fits, from a loafer and leather pants combo to an unlikely Canadian tuxedo mashup.
The next step was to peruse Google Shopping’s “Holiday Party Outfits” and “New Year’s Eve” edits. On-trend styles include bubble-skirt sweater dresses, satin-clad dresses and maxi dresses with dramatic cutouts. I clicked on the ones I liked best, and the platform seamlessly transferred them to my avatar, resulting in three different holiday ensembles that, while not in my closet (yet), looked alive on my figure. No IRL trip to the label’s flagship store required.
In fact, the visuals I received were far from natural and were a testament to the latest Google sophistication. The company says its software “maintains” everything while “understanding the human body and the nuances of clothing, such as how different materials fold, stretch, and drape on different bodies.”[ing] You’ll see these subtleties when you apply them to your photo poses. ”

Any advice from our interviewees on the ideal cold-weather outfit? It’s not as prescriptive as you might think (although Carrie Bradshaw would definitely suggest something maximalist and based on Manolo Blahnik).
“I would never tell anyone what’s right or wrong, what they should or shouldn’t wear. Never in a million years would I,” Parker says. “All I’m saying is, feel like yourself.”
The star revealed that she is usually “shy” around large groups of people, adding: “I get scared of big parties, so I try to do everything I can to feel close to the outside world, especially in social situations.”
What else? Follow your fashion vision. “If you have a fantasy about tartan and color and jeweled tights and patent leather, wear it! Now all those rules are gone,” Parker added.
WWD also managed to get the scoop on the Emmy Award-winning actress’ recent holiday acquisitions, and she couldn’t be happier over the past few weeks. “It’s a houndstooth coat with a single gold thread running through it,” she discovered during the shoot. Google shopping campaign.
What will we learn over time? your Ultimately, it’s going to be a special piece, and finding it is now as easy as uploading an attractive photo of yourself in bright lights and clicking a few buttons. A true Christmas miracle!
