When it comes to iconic urban style, there were no two destinations that influenced fashion sets as much as Paris or New York. The effortless elegance of French women and the edge of the minimalist New Yorker have long stood as a modern style North star. Currently, J.Crew and French brand Rouje offer the ultimate cultural style mashup with a limited edition capsule collection Paris to New York. This collaboration brings the timeless romance of French girl dressing, the cool confidence of NYC minimalism and the range of summer-ready offering one-way tickets in the 90s.
The blend of French and American styles came to life when J.Crew’s chic creative director Olympia Gayot was Met Jeanne Damas to the typical Parisian style icon and founder of Rouje. For those chasing these fashion powers on Instagram, we know there are no two great women leading the transatlantic style collaboration between two of the world’s most respected fashion capitals.

With an exclusive estimate WWDCreative Director J.Crew and Head of Women’s Design, Olympia Gayattshared the inner look of creating a collection. “Jeanne and I met through friends and I have been following her work for many years, but the collaboration has become a very organic and inspiring process. I loved to get inspiration from my favorite French girl for New York. We put everything on the board. Meet the Sunday flea market in New York in the 90s, in Paris, a summer in New York.”

The “Paris to New York” collection features 18 pieces priced between $39.50 and $398. Combining Rouje’s romantic, vintage-inspired aesthetic with J.Crew’s typical cool East Coast style, the capsule is packed with effortless summer wardrobe essentials. Outstandings include a polka dot wrap dress that taps one of the season’s outstanding prints, a delicate knit tank set that oozes French girls’ style, a skirt set, and a red mule heel that offers the perfect dose of early nostalgia. However, the collection also shows how the New York and Paris styles are doing their best. It’s streamlined minimalism. Provement of less, simple white tees are upgraded with delicate embroidered flowers and ruffled sleeve details, while classic blue wide-leg jeans nod to 70s-style bell bottoms with front patch pockets.
