I Pushed My Brother Into Buying Very “Non-Ken” Contemporary Fabric – Another River House Sneak Peek

We were able to discuss “timelessness and trends” tracking for hours in our home design. But it is this philosophy that I almost always land. Hard finish (Flooring, Windows, Tiles) Keeps something high quality simple/special and layer wild style/trends (make sure it’s not boring). This is not a pursuit of anyone and I’m not saying it’s the right/only way, but I don’t Until now I want to renovate the same house twice in my life. (PS I love being inside the Hyper-On Trend Time Capsules in the House/Restaurant when it did well. There are details below, but to drive us away here, my brother’s house had to design a lot of benches as an ad hoc decorator who has made a huge investment in making this house look incredible. cushion. Anne Usherthe architects laid out the house to raise architectural interest and designed the bench, making sure that this new build was not just a square room with four walls, but also the contractor’s performance was not very cheap. plusall benches have a storage drawer, which provides multiple features. Selfishly, I love how they give me the opportunity to add color, patterns, textures and softness. For a large home with lots of glass and wood, textiles will become your best friend and add incredible warmth to what this home needs. Now I was able to fragment it and buy the dough from many different sauces. This was the plan. However, while picking up furniture in the upholstery store, I saw the rich cut velvet pattern samples I loved. When I realized they were all from the same company, PollackI decided to reach out and see if I could waive the trade. This blog post was not part of the transaction. I love fabrics and even more love the company that focuses on women-driven designs. Such an incredible patterned fabric resource! I was very excited. Because I was very excited. Because you can make these rooms look even better, broaden the remaining budget and reach out to these really great fabrics. Good design elements make me look good 🙂

Why is there a strange excitement in patterned fabrics?

This house required several patterns. If you think I Trend/Risk disadvantage (I), you should meet my brother and SIL. There are many scraped back elements in this house to avoid “remorning trendy hard finishes” over 15 years. Something intentionaly. All flooring, tiles and windows are simple and high quality. I think this is a great foundation for modern homes like them. This has always been a plan. It is to layer all colors, patterns, current styles and warmth through furniture, wallpaper, textiles and decorations. But I had a rather strong sense that even treatments for patterned sofas and patterned windows would be too dangerous for them. So what will be left? Cue the bench seat. These seats work visually as furniture (because they are large and obviously seated), but they do have much less risk (if you really don’t like my choice, it’s a few hundred dollars for a new slipcover). So I asked them for a free reins here and they have it for me, but definitely doubt some of my choices along the way. But I feel very strong about some of the bold things, I keep pushing and pushing, and a lot of “trust me!!”

I was greedy with the sample

I had to request a sample and I became very greedy. Simply so great, not weighted, pattern Velvet-like upholstery options on the market (a lot of solids, but like I said, this house needed textures and patterns). Some of these patterns are not that typical for me, but I love them. After cutting them down, I took over them and chose one that would work (over time).

This is where it all started and I was looking for a day at the interior decor store. Boxing Day It was the pattern I thought was perfect in their bedroom (and the first room we had completed the bench). I loved the linear, yet interesting patterns, texture differences (cutting chenille obviously not printed), and the color palette. I’ll put this on the sofa in a second – it feels both safe and special. Originally, I wanted a black taupe colorway, but they didn’t have stock of it, so I chose this as my backup. Anyway, this is my brother’s favorite and is absolutely perfect here.

From: River House guest bedroom reveal

I designed the guest bedroom very quickly (good, I love the guest bedroom), the wall color and bench seat are two driving design elements. I love the warm pink of blue (you know), this royal blue is very punchy and vibrant. pattern It itself has a late ’80s and early ’90s vibe, scaring Ken and Katie when they saw the sample. But the quality of the velvet with rising texture and richness of blue makes it feel really modern and in the design in the best way (they love it). It’s big, bold, and not dangerous in high contrast methods, but it’s highly influential and unexpected. It also has it in several different colours (the one chosen for the meal below, as you see).

Living room fabric It was something I was planning to die with the sword. I felt it was perfect for this room with a 99% guarantee and I wanted it to them (and me) very badly. Don’t be too busy, tie all the colours and tones together and It’s unexpected and rich. All the parties except me (even Gretchen!) were suspicious and not sure it was right. I usually acquiesce to such doubts (as I am and usually within me too), so everyone chooses something that feels good, but this time it’s not. I have cast this partnership on the ground. If they didn’t like it, there was no financial risk to them – just let me do it! You know, I like curated color palettes. Life is confused over everything that is already in the room, so by maintaining the colour palette tight, I can see that your eyes/brain/life are not confused. This fabric comes in all kinds of colors!! So I bullied them to let me do it. And everyone, if you see the whole room together, I hope you agree with me (they are now – they loved it, and even Gretsch was like, “OK, I was wrong”). “Well, once again, one of us got a design star?” joke (as if it gave us actual professional credentials, ha ha).

Now this pattern is undoubtedly modern with a leaning towards the 80s, once again, with a low quality weave, oddly printed or bad colours, the pattern itself is very cheap (and therefore risky). But Pollack does it perfectly with such rich colours, high quality velvet weaving, and non-flashing glow. the So Beautiful, warm and soft.

Of course, for the dining room that can be seen from the living room, I wanted an eye-catching colour over there, but it didn’t compete with the scenery or the fireplace. And as it’s next to the fireplace, I didn’t want it to be too linear (stripe-like). So I chose Green version of guest bedroom pattern. Again, it’s not busy or loud, it’s patterns and textures (the white part is grown). Once the pillows are layered, they are very warm and attractive. I also wanted something not too light here (and really the whole house) as my kids live here and don’t trust the fingers covered in marinara. )

In the family room, we introduced another colour that worked overall in the house and contrasted very well with all the blues and greens – This “aubergine” This is also known as Burgundy or wine. The colour of the wall is incredible Evergreen mistand the sofa is in mink velvet. A part of the upcoming collection (ahem… if you’re reading this super-close and you deserve an Easter egg :)) I wanted to shake it up. It really shows that it’s not the color, but the quality of the piece, and the richness of the colour that makes something. What that means is that I never chose burgundy cotton or linen here. this The cream-contrassed burgundy adds the perfect darkness to the brighter hit. It’s linear, but again not just stripes. This allows me to really expand the color palette here and I’m obsessed with how it turned out.

Currently, Pollack is “trade only.” This means that consumers cannot go to Joannes (RIP) to buy it. It is mainly for custom furniture, so if you are in Portland you can go Alexander Matthews. I don’t even have a resale license (as there is no typical payment to pay for “clients”). So, if there are no designers, I’ve found some websites carrying them. They are a boutique design company known for their wide textile collections marked with sophisticated designs, intricate construction and subtle color palettes, so they come in price ($100-$300/yard). But of course, high quality designs and constructions are simply expensive, and imitations of these patterns do not have the same appeal. They also use the world’s top weaving factories that we can see. If you’re looking for an incredibly special fabric, I wouldn’t recommend it Pollack sufficient. I can’t wait to show you the rest of the house! xx
