The best fashion moments from the 2026 Winter Olympics
This year’s Winter Olympics are off to a strong start, both sartorially and otherwise. Opening Ceremony headliner Mariah Carey stunned in a glittering Roberto Cavalli gown. A group of models wearing Giorgio Armani suits formed the tricolor Italian flag. Other performers made waves by dressing head to toe as brightly colored Bialetti Mocha espresso makers, Italy’s beloved invention. Team USA then attended the Parade of Nations wearing custom Ralph Lauren looks.
Throughout the weeks, Fashion rode shotgun with world-class athleticism. This was evident in everything from the Oscar de la Renta outfit worn by ice skater Diana Stellato-Dudek to the Mongolian team’s official extravagant costumes, made from Goyol cashmere and contributing to the widespread sentiment that Mongolia is a best-dressed nation. Liu’s grunge-inspired ensemble (all leopard-print tights, halo hair, and frenulum piercing for good measure) is also a show-stopper, complete with a myriad of headline-generating “fits” from Snoop Dogg, unveiled during his time as Team USA’s first-ever honorary coach. The guy turned to fur hats, sometimes matching his friend Martha Stewart. Houndstooth coat. And the red, white and blue puffer fish with the faces of American athletes who were competing at the time were pasted on them, and brands like Columbia and Salomon protected his feet.
Anyone wondering how important fashion brands are during the Olympics need only remember what happened to boxer Jake Paul’s fiancée, Dutch speed skater Jutta Lierdam, who won gold in the women’s 1000 meters in a record-breaking time. After winning her medal, she unzipped her racing suit to reveal a white Nike sports bra, the Indy High Support Women’s Padded Front Zip Sports Bra to be exact. Fans rushed to get this bra in the exact same color as Reeldom at Kohl’s. Experts said this action, strategic or not, could have earned her a $1 million payout from Nike. However, some accused the 27-year-old of “ambush marketing”. Despite speculation, she will not be punished by the International Olympic Committee.
