Sephora credit card details
It can be a little confusing to understand how Sephora’s credit card system works.
Sephora offers three types of credit cards.
Sephora Credit Card | This is the most basic card and can only be used in Sephora stores or on Sephora.com, but not at Sephora kiosks inside other stores, such as Kohl’s. |
Sephora Visa Credit Card | The card can be used at any Sephora store (and gets you extra rewards), but it can also be used outside of Sephora stores. |
Sephora Visa Signature Credit Card | The main difference between this card and the Sephora Visa Credit Card is that this card also comes with additional benefits such as Visa Signature Travel, Visa Concierge, and Roadside Dispatch. |
The Sephora Card has no annual fee and will give you 25% off your first purchase within 30 days of getting your card, redeemable in-store or online.
And unlike many other retail credit cards, the 25% discount can be used on any product or service, perfect if you want to splurge on a pricey item like a Dyson Airwrap. But to qualify for the 25% discount, the entire purchase price must be paid on the card.
Shopping at Sephora
To entice shoppers to sign up, the Sephora Visa Signature credit card offers a sign-up bonus (up to $150 these days) once you meet a minimum spending requirement — Sephora purchases don’t count toward the spending requirement — and you’ll get $20 in rewards at Sephora after you spend $500 outside the beauty chain.
Earn 4% cash back when you use your Sephora credit card at Sephora stores or on Sephora.com. Plus, earn 2x Beauty Insider points for every dollar you spend at Sephora. If you don’t have a Sephora credit card, you’ll only earn 1x points. If you have a Sephora Visa Signature credit card, you’ll earn 1% cash back on all non-Sephora purchases.

Before you apply for a Sephora credit card…potential drawbacks to consider
High APR. The basic Sephora credit card APR is currently 31.99%, while the Sephora Visa or Sephora Visa Signature APR will be 31.99% or 23.24%, depending on your credit score and other factors.
Restrictions on where the card can be used. If you only have a basic Sephora credit card, you can only use it at Sephora or Sephora.com. It may not be worth it to have a credit card that can only be used at one store.
When will the card be available for use?
Once approved, you can use your card right away – no need to have the physical card with you. Once approved, you’ll be sent a temporary credit card number to use and get instant access to your 25% off coupon.
It will take 7-14 days to receive your physical card, but you don’t need to bring it with you when you shop at Sephora – if you forget your card at home, a Sephora representative can look up your account for you.
