In this divided, polarized world, there is very little that almost everyone agrees, but you don’t have more storage than less in your home probably One of them (I will bet my weapon on it). When you run out of all your closets, cabinets and drawers… so what? purge? Well, yeah, you should probably start there. But after that? Place the storage in an unexpected location. Like your sofa.
I recently worked here to find a nice looking version of furniture that is typically less charged (recliner sofas that don’t look like recliner, recliner chairs that don’t look like a barkalonger, and standing desks that don’t look like a cubicle).
Now, upholstery in this category isn’t necessarily ugly, as most brands and stores don’t actually offer this. I worked in the furniture industry so I can’t really tell you why I didn’t. He’s a genius! This means that all the space underneath the cushion and spring is for shooting, but it is ignored and begged for it to be used effectively. “Put it in me, full of seasonal blankets that you play once a year, or are super comfortable, but not really so appealing,” he beckons.
One of my last photo shoots in my previous work with a sofa maker was for our new storage upholstery (our beloved Sarah Ligolia Trump actually filmed it!). The company has since evaporated, but I tell you. All the teams that were styling and shooting were considered this less common. But it’s not all sunlight, storage, rainbow. Before exploring some of the EHD approved things I found, here are a few things you should know about storage seating.
- Storage sofas and sections may not be as comfortable as standard sofas or sections. Sadly, like a sleeper sofa, a seat that fulfills double or triple duties must constitute something, and that is usually the softness of the cushion. Usually, the seats are much stiffer and you will find that there is no sense of delicious sink in that you might be looking for. This is because there is a thin platform just below the cushion, rather than springs or webbing.
- Depending on how they are built, they may not last very long. This is painful considering the cost of many storage sofas and sections is higher than standard sofas. Whenever there is an additional mechanism in your furniture, it is likely to ultimately fail, or at least requires maintenance. If provided, you will obtain warranty.
- That super cool style you wanted? Yes, it’s not going to come with storage. You can see that the sofa with storage is a bit bokuye, which works because it is trendy, but generally has style limitations. Thankfully, you can find these in some fun fabric offerings, which will push the boundaries a bit in that area.
- The type of lift mechanism has a major impact on price. When shopping, be sure to look for information on how to open storage parcels. Some sofas, usually in the low-cost range, are completely manual and should be left open with one hand. Others (better) have hydraulic systems, both of which make it easier to open, but also means keeping hands-free open.
What about the functionality of the storage sofa?
Ah, I’m glad you asked. If you do deep dive, there are some things you can find, but I’ll summarise them here so you don’t have to.
The storage section is more common than a two- or three-seater sofa, especially for sleepers. If you google the “Storage Section” or “Storage Sofa”, we promise to meet more sleeper sofas than anything else. However, in the section, its chise compartment is fairly easy to turn into a storage cubee, as it is usually offered in two pieces. Click on the “Sofa” part to your own piece, Chaise. So the manufacturer simply changes the frames of that section, not the entire furniture.

Also, as (below), this is much less common. I actually prefer the drawer style. Because no one has to move off the couch to access anything you’re hiding.
Of course, if you already have a sofa and you’re not in the market for new sofas, there’s still an option for you to have a storage ottoman! A full-size storage ottoman often offers as much cube space as the storage section, so it’s perfect for your spending without sacrificing comfort. I really love the SixPenny stuff above, and it’s rather big and open like a taco shell (two flaps folded in the center), so you don’t have to worry about putting it on everywhere while reaching inside. However, details of such designs are expensive.
Before going shopping I wanted to call out what could be displayed on both the sofa and the section. I pulled the tab. In my opinion, this is not attractive and makes the sofa look cheaper. Of course, they are very functional and know that they can be pushed under the cushion fairly easily when not lifting.
Now let’s take a look at what I found:
Sofa with storage
The first pick in a guest room or small apartment is the sleeper sofa (you can’t beat that feature!), but the second on my list is the storage sofa. It is said to be a guest room for comfort. Sure, storage sofas can be the main seat, but they are stiffer and generally not deeper (7th Avenue is one of the rare exceptions on both fronts).
I expect to pay from around $1,000 on the low end (think some cheap on Wayfair, Amazon, or Walmart), but for high-end brands it’s $3,000 to $4,000 or more. On average, I think they run around $1,500.

West Elm actually has a wide storage sofa like they do Marine Not only traditional, fully upholstered style, but they too Harwoodcool and has a wood base for the moment. Harwood has drawers, while Marine has storage under cushions. Another candidate you can choose from is the article. Storage section
Use sections. As mentioned before, many of the storage sections are also sleepers. Therefore, some of the following will be displayed: With a few exceptions, the storage compartment lives under the Chaise, but if it is modular it can be under the seat. A compact section with storage costs around $2,000, but is cheap and can be found (buyed at your own risk). High quality storage section comes with around $4,000-$6,000 (pain) about $4,000) especially if you have a sleeper.

Again, the article comes with options. Their big Riley is 118 inchesSuitable for spacious living rooms and basements. Lee and laundry Small (86 inches and 84.5 inches) so these are suitable for compact apartments and home offices. I love Behemoth Barrowfeatures a hidden sleeper and two storage compartments, one under each chise. Options from Crate & Barrel (#8) and Rooms and Boards (#4) I’m on the more expensive side, but my experience from both of those places is that you’re buying quality for a long time. When you buy quality, you say you cry once, right?
Ottoman with storage
Do you need a new sofa? Have you with these storage ottomans. It’s not accurate to find, but many of them look the same, so I wanted to shop for other styles, colors and fabrics. Find even more luxurious materials and brands for just a few hundred dollars worth of decent options, or about $1,000 (gift or take).

And of course, Six Penny’s Neva Elite for comfort and how the top opens (like the wings).
