Guild and AshWest End retailers of women’s accessories, household items and gifts are making a mile transition this month.
On August 15th, the Guild and Ash closed the storefront door on Patterson Avenue in a nine-year space. The move comes from a redevelopment project that transforms the boutique and nearby West Hampton Pastry Shop into a four-storey multi-purpose building.
The new location for Gild and Ash, which opened this month, is located at 5021 Hugenot Road, part of the River Road II shopping centre. The 3,500-square-foot storefront is more than three times the size of the original store. Nearby stores include Osaka Sushi & Steak, Dimension Z and Stella groceries.
Co-owners Ellie Caprice and Anne Alberson knew they would eventually need to find a large space. Their old building redevelopment project was a great opportunity to make a leap.
“We both think it’s a great place and a neighborhood,” Caprice says. “We loved all the different shops here and it felt like it fits well.”
With the additional space, co-owners will expand their offerings, including new furniture inventory, a selection of more jewelry and candles, clothing, and especially improved loungewear.
Additionally, the additional area allows Caplice and Alverson to create more elaborate displays for a variety of products, such as vignettes that show how to use items at home.
“We let people see how products work in a particular space [such as] The kitchen, bar area or living space,” Caprice says.
