New Release
Patrick Demarchelier: Fashion Photography that is seen and invisible
The new hardcover coffee table book features 304 pages of iconic fashion photos, ranging from elaborate studio setups and lush location chutes to more intimate moments between DeMarcherie and his subjects.
French photographers have photographed countless celebrities and models. This new book contains previously invisible images of Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Karlie Kloss, Cate Blanchett, Demi Moore, Glenn Close and more. The photograph was edited by Victor, a son of Demarchelier, who is himself a well-known photographer.
American writer Brad Gooch offers a preface that doubles as a respected biographer of the foreword. From picking up his first Eastman Kodak camera as a teenager to being respected as a French officer in the order of arts and arts. Gooch also writes about the unique way Demarchelier captured his subject, saying, “Patrick’s legacy is elegance that is both “timeless” and “snap.”
In addition to the contributions of Victor Demarchelier and Gooch, the book is designed by legendary art director Fabien Baron, who worked with the photographer on multiple campaigns and filming.
As Rizzoli points out in the accompanying explanation, “[Demarchelier’s] Published images often feature sophisticated high fashion aesthetics, capturing the charm and elegance of the fashion world. [but] The unpublished reveals the more intimate, raw, unfiltered aspects of his artistry. These invisible photographs “will give you a glimpse into DeMarchelier’s creative process, introducing moments of spontaneity and experimentation.
“Patrick DeMarcellier: Fashion Photography Seen and Invisible” is a great gift idea for fashion lovers and those who want to own acclaimed decoration pieces.
Demarchelier passed away in 2022 at his home in France. He was 78 years old.
