You’re going to love this easy creamy coleslaw recipe!
This coleslaw is hands down one of the easiest side dishes I’ve ever made.
Our Creamy Coleslaw Dressing is a little sweeter than regular coleslaw and super creamy (meaning super delicious!) It’s also naturally gluten-free. and It’s dairy-free, making it a great side dish for those with allergies.
It goes well with a variety of dishes, Huge You can make a large batch at once, making it perfect for potlucks, picnics, summer cookouts, backyard barbecues, holiday parties and more.
I’ve brought this creamy coleslaw to so many events and it always gets rave reviews. It’s my go-to recipe when I’m cooking for a large crowd and need a frugal side dish to make the meal a little more substantial (it easily makes 30+ people).
As an added bonus, it actually tastes good and can be made a full day ahead. Even better Leave it overnight!
Ingredients for Creamy Coleslaw Dressing
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon mustard
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 30 ounces mayonnaise (about 3.5 to 4 cups)
- Coleslaw Mix 4 packets (16 oz each)*
*Note: I like to use a coleslaw mix because it saves me so much time, but you can shred your own cabbage and carrots and make your own mix if you prefer. One 16oz bag contains about 6 cups of shredded cabbage/carrots.
How to Make a Creamy Coleslaw that a Crowd Can Enjoy
1. Combine vinegar, sugar, mustard, salt, and mayonnaise in a large bowl.
2. Add the shredded coleslaw and mix well.
3. Cover and refrigerate for a few hours before serving (better if chilled overnight).
Creamy Coleslaw Recipe FAQs
No, using a prepackaged mix will save you a lot of chopping time, but you can also chop the cabbage and carrots yourself until you have about 25 cups of shredded cabbage and carrots (combined).
I recommend making this recipe a few hours before serving (preferably the night before) to allow the flavors to mingle and marinate. Once made, it will stay fresh for up to 72 hours (if refrigerated).
