It’s completely normal to feel unsure at first. There are so many options, it’s hard to know what’s legal. But if you can give yourself permission to start small and go one step at a time, you will start to see the door open.
You said you enjoy reading and have the skills to proofread and edit. It’s a great foundation! There is an entire industry that relies on people who look to detail and love for language.
- Freelance proofreading and editing
- Transcription
- Virtual assistant work (often includes content or email proofreading)
- Blog or Social Media Content Reviews
All of these are roles and scale up (or down) you can do from home depending on availability.
Start with what you can (not what you know what you should do)
You (or someone else reading this) may be thinking: There is no formal training. Who will hire me? But here’s the problem. Opportunities from many jobs do not require a flashy resume.
They demand people like:
- Reliable
- communication
- It’s tidy
- I’m happy to learn
That sounds like youright?
In fact, in me Working from home blueprint coursewe talk about how many women can disqualify themselves before they begin. However, all the skills used to raise children with special needs, manage households, and work full-time are marketable skills. They show you that you are responsible, paying attention to detail and that you can handle the pressure. Employer love that!
Become strategic over your time
Your time is very limited, so focus on options that are flexible and do not require large time commitments in advance. Some ideas to explore:
