With the 24-hour room makeover and perfect home age on social media, it’s okay to wait slowly and wait for what you like to sell and not feel pressured to rush to finish the whole house. And yes, this may sound hypocritical from a girl doing a one-month living room makeover The whole situation (This is so exciting for you) – But this makeover brought about a great conversation with my roommate about our decorative mentality, and it was very eye-opening for me. As for decoration, I noticed there are two main camps. Let me explain.
As designers/design enthusiasts, many of us gather them in the hopes of shopping for what we love for years and finding a spot for them later (we usually do). So, for me, when I moved into the space, I already had a fairly large inventory of vintage, home decorations, furniture and art. And these collections can grow rapidly as they are our hobby and joys in our lives (except for family, friends, and such important things). I can only speak for myself, but I know that a lot of you have something to do with this. In general, my approach to decoration is to set up what I have gathered and what I love. I know that if I find a more perfect piece, I can trade (and do) something later. And I’m working in the room to make existing pieces (for now it’s just that it’s), and I probably put together the rooms I want you to feel like your room is over. Therefore, your home decor collection will grow and random pieces will start to come and go from the home at a fast pace. I personally have a hard time relaxing at home. There are many incentives to want to decorate me quickly beyond my profession while I do this in part for my work like this. If this sounds like you, welcome High speed decorator club.
Now I’m sure you can guess where this is heading, but the other groups Slow decorator. There may also be a few crossovers here. A slow decorator collects items over time and decorates the space to make it easier to live in as you get in, but the way you think about it from there is a bit different. This group can include people who may not have been invested in design, people who love design but don’t want to invest in the space they still live in, or people who love design and want to invest in their own space but are more intentional to do it the right way. I know so many people I know fall into this camp (and that’s because it makes a lot of sense). This group likes to be intentional slowly Collecting the perfect pieces for a reasonable price, they plan exactly where it goes (which means they may live without art on the wall. They don’t want to spend the hassle of investing and bringing in items if the pieces are not entirely correct or if they don’t see longevity.
Don’t worry – you don’t need to select one group. There are many crossovers between these imaginary camps of people I just made. So don’t think you need to be boxed into a camp – but in general, this has noticed my roommate and I was different. This is my job, so I always invest in furniture, decoration, or artwork. I really think it’s amazing. I know that I can always sell my work, put it in another project, or hand it over to friends and family (and as a designer/decorator/content creator, it’s good that there’s so much variety in the styling of my projects. New! Dangerous! Fun! Stop! It’s a very specific mentality – I know – this conversation with my roommate is a good reminder for me and hopefully for you too, not all the details of the house are fully done and it’s okay to perfect this moment (we all know that we can all feel the internet, clients, people coming, what factors it is). Decorate with your own timeline and feel right to you.

A small and simple home upgrade
A drink table can save you the daily nuisance of sitting on a chair or sofa just too far from the coffee table. believe me. It makes a huge difference in the livability of your space! Another fun piece to add (I’m currently shopping) is the tray for the coffee table. They make your little trinket look more intentional and your home isn’t too messy. This is great (I actually have something very similar), and This black thing It’s also really refined.
Medium-sized home upgrade
This next category has great quality, and there are plenty of items that feel really solid and take up a little more space. In my living room makeover, I use a fair amount of stone and marble materials (scream) My dream coffee table Unfortunately it’s not on sale now, but sorry!!!) but pushed me in this direction so they’re solid. It’s just as heavy, but in a really good way. I got caught too This travertine side tableand I love putting things on these tables. Because they know they’re not going anywhere. Marble and travertine are expensive materials, so it certainly isn’t cheap, but I found it This wonderful end table There are a lot of colors at a fairly reasonable price range.

Big home upgrade
This is a big ticket item upgrade! I just grabbed This sofa Replace my old IKEA sofa. The reviews were great so I thought it was great, but I highly recommend it if you need an upgrade (and it has a lot of configuration). The fabric is soft and low, but not too low. Also, what I love is pretty deep so someone can sleep comfortably if needed (or personally if you want to take a nap).
I’m obsessed This leather bed – What a star piece. This is so timeless and works in so many different bedrooms 🙂
Allmodern has plenty of sofas and beds all year round (obviously), but sales are very good now.
So I hope you find something you love. /Or hope that both slowly and fast decorations can be present. It’s about how much time, effort, money you want to put in and put in to make yourself comfortable in your own home. It’s your timeline and your space – not someone else’s.
