When I first came up with this online home decor shop post, it was from A. I just photographed my home and I’m so happy to be able to show off all the special things I’ve collected over the years. And we want others to feel the same way about what they have in their homes. B. Pierce & Ward and A1000xBetter both had/are having special sales (sorry, P&W’s sale has ended). C. I love lists of the best places to shop because I tend to go blank thinking about stores on the spot. Just a warning, these aren’t the most affordable places to get cool décor items. As you can imagine, running a small business isn’t cheap. Of course, you have to sell products that will generate a profit. Also, unlike major mass retailers, we don’t have unlimited inventory. Etsy is always a great online place to get more deals. Don’t get me wrong, I love big box stores too. Just because the box is big doesn’t mean it’s poorly designed. However, if you only style your home using products from those types of stores, you’ll still end up with a very beautiful home, but it won’t be truly unique. Preferably vintage pieces, pieces you’ve scoured and found at flea markets, local stores, cool online shops, heirlooms, etc. Also, I didn’t think this would be a sister piece to this week’s Aaryn’s Whimsical article, but as I’m picking out the pieces, there are a lot of really great whimsical pieces. Bookmark it, pin it, or buy it if you like. And above all, have fun.

Lone Iris is a family-run shop in Montana with a very beautiful decor, including many practical items that are pleasing to the eye. It was my dad’s girlfriend who introduced it to us when he wrote a post about cabin tours. That brass wall vessel was a big hit with everyone 🙂 It’s a very beautiful site and a great place to spend your time. If you’re in Bozeman, Montana, stop by our brick-and-mortar store.

What can’t be found? Pierce & Ward?? If you’re in LA, there’s also a magical shop in Los Feliz, but if you’re not, the site is full of great treasures. Caitlin and I actually just went to a warehouse sale and Caitlin scored big! I just took a photo of the apartment (she says again 🙂) I obviously didn’t need anything and was very proud of the restraint I showed, haha. In fact, if you’re an Instagram user, be sure to follow your favorite shops and designers. You never know when they might want to clear their inventory. have to go to Lawson Fenning I had a warehouse sale a few years ago and picked up a lot of great stuff! Now, back to P&W. It’s not cheap (the above products are their On the more affordable side), even just getting something small will inject personality into your home. In case you haven’t heard yet, there’s even more features. Affordable collection in collaboration with West Elm🙂 I have a West Elm pillow in my living room (thanks to Emily Bowser) and a ring box that I bought from a shop in Los Angeles. A little something from each place!

restorer shop A beautiful shop full of vintage items owned by Kennesha Poe-Buycks. We had the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago and she was truly a wonderful person. The price is also great. But with so much vintage, you’ll want to check back often to see what’s new, and if you like something, grab it right away. That’s the beauty and curse of vintage… once it’s over, it’s probably over 🙂 The style leans completely towards traditional/antique/rustic. But no matter your style, be sure to check it out!

Obrist This is a wonderful shop run by a husband and wife team living in Paris. The pieces are incredibly unique on the more contemporary side, and the non-vintage pieces are mostly made to order, which aligns with their commitment to waste reduction and overall sustainability. This site is one of the most expensive (again, the pieces I picked above are in the most affordable range), but it’s definitely worth a look for inspiration.

Hoppe store It’s actually a woman-run shop in Portland that I happened to find online and loved! Their style is the perfect combination of modern and vintage. The color palette is decidedly neutral, but the shapes and textures are very special. flat this little matchbox It’s incredible.

Leif “” is special to me. Because not only did I receive prints from them for my previous apartment, but they have a store in Brooklyn. As some of you may know, this is one of the most beloved stores of my life. This shop is also owned by a woman! But what makes them really special is because of all the great products they sell. Whimsicality is the name of the game here, and color is everywhere. As you can see from the small selection above, sweet and simple are perfect descriptions, and you’ll definitely find something special here.

I’ve been singing praises Grasset Most of the past few years have been their art, but there’s a lot more. Joy and, of course, whimsy are the best words to describe this brand. The shapes, colors, and patterns are all fun and noble. I think you can’t help but have an impressive time on this site, so please come and visit it even if you have nothing to do.

Casa di Lavalle This is the beautiful baby of longtime blogger Cassandra Laval (formerly Coco Kelly). Her taste is impeccable and if I lived in Seattle, I would live here. For now, all you have to do is search and shop online 🙂 But like everyone else on this list, she sources vintage and beautiful handmade items that are all covetable. I mean, remember her basement kitchen? She knows what she’s doing.

If you like folk/primitive decor, you’ll love it. Tinbin. This is another family-owned shop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and they have a lot of really sweet things, but what I love about them is the lighting. That double candle sconce was introduced to me via Pinterest. They’re charming, soulful, and affordable, but not easily accessible to small businesses.

&Jacob It captures my heart for many reasons. I have some very special pieces on display in my living room 🙂 I love the combination of playful shapes and natural materials. I had the pleasure of going to their showroom in Mexico City a few years ago (according to this post, I think I went all those years ago lol) and it was very special. The people who worked there were very kind. Especially since I didn’t know that their showroom was technically not open to the public…oops! I don’t know about shipping to the US at this time, but the price of the product is very reasonable. that mad tea party The cake stand is insane! I might have to start making bread to justify the purchase.

I dare say Claude Home Might be my favorite on this list?? Whenever I see an Instagram post, I save it right away. The design is so special, interesting, and chic that I would like to buy one and display it in my home someday. You’ll need a big budget to do most things, but if you have the budget, support them. Because what they do is amazing. Anyway, please give it a read.

Last but not least, we now have an online/local pop-up shop here in Pasadena. We featured the amazing work of Kirsten Blazek and her design company. 1000x better Again and again on this blog (here, here, and here, to name a few). I also had the great pleasure of meeting Kirsten a few years ago… just kidding! I performed with Aaryn at Showcase House in Pasadena this year and as expected, she was amazing. Information regarding the sale is as follows:
“Kirsten is launching her own pop-up shop in Pasadena and will be dropping an exclusive collection of furniture and accessories via Instagram every Saturday at 9 a.m. PT. Drops starting October 11th will include Kirsten’s favorite items hand-picked from her staging inventory, including furniture, accessories, home décor and more. Buyers will have the opportunity to purchase pieces via Instagram and pick them up on-site.”
So, while it’s not exactly a “shop” and is only semi-online, I had to let people in LA know. Kirsten’s taste is too delicious not to share 🙂
That’s all for today. I’m sure there are many other great online decoration shops out there, so please let me know in the comments.
I love you, it’s true.
