Tyra Banks She made her long-awaited return victoria’s secret fashion show This was her first runway appearance in about 20 years since she retired from modeling in 2005. She made her angelic comeback on October 15th, closing the show in a stunning black bustier adorned with crystals, paired with a silver cape, dark leggings and pants. Strap heels.
Tyra glided down the runway with her signature smile and graced the catwalk for the first time since her retirement. At 50, she remains one of the original Victoria’s Secret Angels, gracing the runways during the brand’s early days in the ’90s. During her eight-year modeling contract, she participated in nine shows, including wearing the iconic Fantasy Bra twice.
Reflecting on her retirement, Tyra told Harper’s Bazaar that she believed she needed to be taken seriously, turning down another contract with Victoria’s Secret to pursue a career as a talk show host. “I felt like if I continued to model, people wouldn’t trust me,” she said. But she sees the industry differently now. “The world has evolved to allow me to become a businesswoman, run an ice cream company, teach at Stanford University, and, yes, be a Victoria’s Secret model.”
Tyra emphasized that women no longer need to fit into a single stereotype. “I’m excited to be able to come back and celebrate all aspects of myself without feeling like I have to compromise,” she explained. She also expressed excitement about the growing acceptance of diverse body types in the fashion industry. “At the time, when it was important, I was considered the curvier, black model. Now, doors have really opened.”
She concluded, “This is a beautiful evolution towards more diversity and inclusivity in fashion.” See more photos of the interior…
