The urgency is clear. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Black women accounted for 50% of new HIV diagnoses among women in the U.S. in 2023, but they made up only 13% of the female population and were 11 times more likely to be diagnosed with HIV than non-Hispanic white women.
