The Seven Easiest Items to Thrift

Elder Sister,

I’m so excited to get back into thrift shopping! I took a bit of a break last year because, to be honest, I just wasn’t finding much good stuff when I went to thrift stores. As thrift stores became more popular, there wasn’t much left to find in my neighborhood. So I took a bit of a break and during that time I discovered my love for estate sales. In fact, I recently finished an estate sale one Saturday morning and decided to stop by Goodwill. I’ve been very proactive about thrift shopping again this new year and my first thrift shop visit of the year was very productive.

The end of the year and beginning of the year are said to be the best times to save money as many people are clearing out their homes for tax season, and I couldn’t believe how full my shelves were. I found a lot! Additionally, my interest in estate sales has led me to broaden my thrift store shopping beyond accessories and clothing, to include household items like glassware and crockery.

As I venture into thrift stores again, I thought it would be helpful to share some of the most common things you can find at thrift stores. And best of all, it’s not just clothing. everyone You can find something.

7 items that help you save money

1. Outerwear

Outerwear is one of my favorite things to shop at thrift stores because of the high quality pieces you can find. You can find amazing vintage blazers, coats, and more at thrift stores. Plus, you can also find on-trend pieces and unique pieces.

2. Household Goods

Whether you’re planning a dinner party or just looking for household items, thrift stores are the perfect place to find affordable home goods. I’ve found everything from formal dinner plates to pretty pink drinking glasses. I’m still swooning over the perfect measuring cup I got for just a dollar.

3. Dresses and skirts

I always find a ton of dresses and skirts when I go to thrift stores, like denim dresses my teachers used to wear and even stylish skirts that give off a Clueless vibe.

4. Children’s clothing

When I shop thrift stores, the children’s clothing section is surprisingly empty, but many people miss out on the quality clothes there. It’s a great place to find a variety of children’s clothes, as new or gently used children’s clothes are frequently donated there.

5. Accessories

Accessories are my second favorite thing to find at thrift stores. You can find great costume jewelry, silk scarves, hats, and other high-quality items at thrift stores. I love layering jewelry, so I never leave a thrift store without checking out that section to see what gems I can find. I recently found a beautiful gold necklace marked down to $2.

6. Jeans

If you need jeans, check out your local thrift store. They usually have rows of jeans in all sizes, from baggy to straight. If you want to distress your own jeans, thrift stores are a great place to get them at affordable prices.

7. Graphic T-shirts

Thrifted graphic tees are my favorite. They can be a little hard to find because resellers hunt them down so often, but nothing beats finding a vintage graphic tee at a thrift store. I’ve found some really quirky tees. One of my favorite finds is a 2Pac t-shirt that my husband found for me while we were thrifting in Winston-Salem.

What’s your favorite thrift store find?
