Thandiwe Newton Talks About Her Funniest Role Yet

thandiwe newton She stopped by The Jennifer Hudson Show on Monday, January 5, to look back at the early days of her acting career, including co-starring with Nicole Kidman early in her career. During the conversation, Newton also shares his personal and heartfelt memories of Tupac Shakur, revealing a rarely seen side of the late artist and giving viewers a glimpse of their connection beyond the spotlight.

Moving on to his latest work, Newton talks about trying comedy opposite Jack Black in his new film. anacondaembracing the genre that pushed her creativity in unexpected ways. She talks about improvising with a wildly entertaining cast, keeping a straight face in the midst of complete chaos, and learning to trust spontaneity on set. According to Newton, the role was the perfect challenge for her, allowing her to have fun and stretch beyond her comfort zone.

Newton will star in 2025’s meta-comedy reboot anacondadepicting friend Claire Simmons who joins a group of filmmakers attempting to remake the original cult classic horror film. What begins as a tongue-in-cheek recreation quickly spirals into danger when Paul Rudd and Jack Black’s characters encounter a very real, very dangerous giant anaconda in the Amazon. This once chaotic production transforms into a fight for survival, blending humor, horror, and self-conscious storytelling.

The film also stars Steve Zahn and Selton Mero, and is directed by Tom Gormican, known for his keen sense of comedy. This reboot is a smart, savvy take on the beloved yet cheesy original, leaning perfectly into meta-humor while still delivering thrills. anaconda It will open on Christmas Day 2025 and be a holiday surprise packed with delicious treats.

Throughout the interview, Newton revealed that even after decades in the industry, he is still eager to explore new creative territory. Whether reflecting on the past, sharing personal memories, or diving headlong into comedy, Thandiwe Newton continues to evolve, proving that growth, curiosity, and a willingness to take risks remain central to her career.
