I have always been a passionate reader. As a child, I loved getting lost in all kinds of literature. It was my favorite way to escape from everyday life. The book opened up a whole new world for me, full of learning, imagination and discovery.
When my kids were little, we actually lived in the library or in the Burns & Noble. I have made it a tradition to have them choose a new book every week, and that has become something we all look forward to.
Now it brings joy to me to see my grandson, legend and cultivate the same love for reading. His kindergarten teacher recently shared what he is reading at the second grade level and I couldn’t be more proud!
I currently work with several publishers who have sent out some great children’s books for reviews and look forward to sharing some of them with you. If possible, introduce the book’s magic early on. It is a truly gift that will keep giving and open the door to infinite possibilities.
Teaching children to read is one of the most important foundations for their overall development. This is why it is so important:
1. Build communication skills
Reading helps children understand language, sentence structure and vocabulary. This directly improves the way they speak, write and express themselves.
2. Supports academic success
Reading is the key to studying in all subjects. Science, history, etc. Children who read well can better understand instructions, stories and concepts.
3. Increase imagination and creativity
The book inspires creativity by transporting children to a new world, introducing them to different cultures, and encouraging them to think beyond the environments they are close to.
4. Strengthen cognitive development
Reading enhances brain function by improving memory, focus and concentration. It helps children understand the world and strengthens problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
5. Promotes emotional intelligence
Through the story, children learn about empathy, relationships, and emotional expression. They begin to see life through the eyes of others and understand different perspectives.
6. Encourage lifelong love for learning
Children who develop strong reading habits early will develop into curious, informed, enthusiastic adults who value knowledge and education.
7. Build confidence and independence
As children improve their reading comprehension, they gain more confidence in school and social situations, and gain independence and pride in their abilities.
