Reflecting on his six months in county jail, Karen spoke freely about his sobriety, his faith, and the intense public scrutiny he faced. She said God has brought great healing into her life and that she respects public opinion but knows her own truth. Now, she says she feels true peace and happiness.
Addressing the rumors head-on, Karen joked about speculation that she had disappeared for cosmetic surgery, instead clarifying that prison is the harsh and humiliating reality of sleeping on a cold steel bed and facing a life stripped of comfort and charm. She took full responsibility for her actions, acknowledged that drinking and driving was wrong, and expressed deep gratitude to be alive. She said she lost consciousness in the car accident and woke up, thanking God that no one else was hurt or killed.
While incarcerated, Karen devoted herself to healing and taught AA and DA classes, explaining that true teaching comes from lived experience. She admitted that even though God had always been on her side, she had turned a blind eye to the fact that she was running away from reality instead of facing it. She also spoke candidly about the pressures of reality TV, noting that drinking is often part of the environment, but discipline is essential.
One of the most grounding moments for her was seeing children through a glass window during a visit, an experience she says she never wants to repeat or have to go through again. Karen firmly declared that she would never drink and drive again and said there was no room for forgiveness in that choice.
Ultimately, Karen said the experience was deeply humbling and transformative. She recognizes the benefits of her platform and is committed to using it with intention, integrity, and purpose as she continues her journey of healing and sobriety. It was a very good interview. ”
