On Monday, October 27th, the spotlight was on. GRITS (Southern Girls) Red carpet premiere and screening Check out Brookhaven’s Dinner-in-Cinema. The night was filled with Southern charm and star power as cast members Jasmine Sargent, Ashanti Harris, Aja “Slimeloni” Canyon made a brilliant appearance alongside the show’s creator, Desi Raray. The energy was high, the fashion was on point, and it truly was a night celebrating Southern sisterhood and stories.

GRITS follows three young women, Keisha, Ty, and Frances, who live in the harsh city of Memphis. They are determined to find the next chapter in their lives while enjoying the world of roller skating they once loved. They dream of one day leaving Memphis for a life in the big city of Hollywood, but their bond makes it nearly impossible for them to leave the soul-food-loving, eventful, southern-charm, Biblical-sounding city of good old Memphis. If all else fails, skate until you can’t skate anymore.
