If you’re a Memphis foodie, you already know that the city is filled with little gems, including Quick Checkis a deli and convenience store that sells Korean and Greek-inspired fare. Located in Midtown near Overton Square (it’s literally just down the road), it’s been around since 1988 and is a popular stop for anyone looking to pick up something a little different on their lunch break.
I’m a creature of habit, so I always Bibimbap (sometimes called bibimbap) is a spicy and delicious Korean mixed rice bowl with beef, chicken, tofu, etc. They also offer wraps, sandwiches, sides like muffalottas, and desserts, but this is the one I always choose (probably because I can never get it anywhere else, lol).
Bibimbap
(Steamed white rice served with carrots, bean sprouts, spinach, daikon radish, zucchini, cucumber, beef, chicken or tofu, topped with spicy gochujang sauce and a fried egg).
It doubles as a convenience store so you can pick up chips, sweets, and drinks to fill your stomach, and there’s seating inside so you can just hang out and people watch (this is midtown Memphis so we do this all the time, lol). Quick Check It’s a bit of a hidden gem (it hasn’t posted on social media since 2019) but it’s well known among locals, so although you might have to wait a bit, you won’t be disappointed!
