Navigating the Holidays: Being a burnt out Mom of Two

Raising two children while dealing with the emotional strain of this season can be exhausting. I swear, some days I feel like I’m barely holding it all together.

Difficulties are real, but baby, we will get through this!

Today we’ll show you how to survive this holiday season.
When you become a mother, it’s easy to put your own needs on the back burner. Between diaper changes, school before and after runs, meal prep, and bedtime routines, it can sometimes feel like you don’t have time to take care of yourself. Especially if your spouse works a lot. Literally for a few months my mind was really in a fog.

schedule my time
The best way to describe it is to create a moment of light. The first thing for me is to schedule self-care for the days I need support. Whether it’s an hour break or a full day. Try it! The euphoria of completing it will last for several days.
get over guilt
One of the most difficult things about parenting is guilt. Sometimes you want to do it all, but for financial or physical reasons you can’t. But here’s what I realized: Even on the days when I don’t feel like I’m good enough, I’m doing enough. My children don’t need me to be perfect or to choose the perfect events or occasions. They need me to show up. Sometimes in the best way I can cope with that day. And when I show up, even if it’s just for a walk to the park or a dance party, that’s enough.
Get others involved
This may be difficult, but if you have a village at all, try to connect your child with them on days when they need a mental break. Whenever Grandma is around, I bring my oldest over and have her bake some Christmas treats. Or I can schedule a play date with my cousins to distract them while I mentally rejuvenate.
Thank you for reading this post. I hope you are doing well.
