The other day I attended a pre-screening. I caught the stolenAnd, amazing, what a wild ride! The film follows Hank Thompson (Austin Butler), a former high school baseball genius whose big league dreams have long gone. Life seems decent enough. He has a casual relationship with his girlfriend (Zoë Kravitz). However, when his punk rock neighbor Russ (Matt Smith) asks for a cat seat for a few days, and suddenly Hank is entangled with the chaotic crew of the gang, everything is unleashed. catch? The first is the title I caught the stolen It didn’t click completely for me until the movie rolled over! My girlfriend and I were glued to the screen, my mouth opened and I tried to catch up with all the action. This is one of those movies that don’t dare to look away. It’s packed with twists, violence, crooked cops, gangsters and more. Set in New York City in the late 90s, it sparked a bit of nostalgia for me.
Austin Butler gave a strong performance as Hank. A deep, flawed man, an alcoholic, a screwed man, constantly in the wrong place at the wrong time, but still strives desperately to redeem himself. Zoe Kravitz played his only, repetitive girlfriend, although their “relationship” was like a profitable friend. Her intentions towards him seemed suspicious at best. Matt Smith as Lass? It guides the Hank straight through a dark, spiral rabbit hole that starts with something as simple as a cat babysitter.
One particularly fascinating element was the portrayal of a Jewish mob. It was intense, unexpected, and honestly, I looked back on some of my own upbringing in Cleveland, Ohio. I always respected and admired their faith, and although my mother had worked in Jewish nursing homes for years, I never imagined that there would be an organized crime bond in some circles. After the screening, someone even said there was a faction here in Atlanta! It was surreal to see them in films wearing Jarmurke and Talit while being absolutely ruthless, but it added a unique and surprising layer to the story.
whole, I caught the stolen It’s rough, thrilling and full of unexpected turns. If you like crime dramas with dark humor, violence and unpredictable twists, this will keep you hooked. It will definitely be worth the watch to appear in theaters on Friday, August 29th!
When his punk rock neighbor asks him to take care of his cat for several days, New York City bartender Hank Thompson suddenly gets caught up in the middle of a gross threatening gangs who want fragments of him.
