A few weeks ago I came across a post that people were sharing in a thread. Summer 2024 bucket listSome of the things on the list were extravagant, like multiple international trips, and some were more simple (like trips to the farmer’s market and the beach), haha. Since I’m in the transition between seasons now and it’s officially summer, I thought it would be a fun thing to do myself and wanted to share my list. Summer 2024 bucket list You guys think so too.
Now, your bucket list doesn’t have to be overly complicated or expensive. The important thing is to enjoy the season to the fullest (just like we did when we were younger). I think as we get older, we can get so caught up in work and adulthood that we forget to do the little things that bring us joy and make it all worth it. I want to get back to doing those things. So let’s get started!
Summer 2024 bucket list
go to the sea
I have a family vacation to the Dominican Republic in a few days and I can’t wait. I want to go to the beach at least a few more times before the summer is over. I want to relax and rejuvenate while soaking up the sun by the water. A trip to the lake wouldn’t hurt either (but I won’t go in any deeper than my toes, haha).
Read more books
I’m having a hard time getting back into reading but I think this summer is the year I can really get some reading done. I’m planning on taking some books on my beach trip and hopefully I can get through at least 5 books before the season is over. I should be able to do that in 3 months, right???
Visit the museum
Going to museums is truly one of my favorite hobbies, usually art museums, and with over 30 museums here in Memphis (including the Metal Museum and the Automobile Museum, which have been on my bucket list for months), I try to visit at least one every week.
Reconnect with nature
BTW, I’m not much of an outdoorsy person (bugs? humidity? yuck), but for the past few weeks I’ve been going to the park at least once a week and sitting outside reading a book, listening to music, or doing a word search puzzle. It’s only an hour or so, but it feels so good to be in the sunshine and get away from everyone and everything. I’m also hoping to finish decorating our patio so we can enjoy it (something we weren’t able to do last year due to family commitments), and that includes having a picnic in the park with friends.
Expressing life beyond content through photography
As a photographer, I love to capture content for myself and others, but I also want to capture everyday things; small things that I find beautiful, candid moments with friends…simple things. The beauty of photography is that everyone has a different perspective. I want to get back to expressing myself through the medium of photography.
Find a new hobby
As a child, I would draw, dance, try baking, read books, or try new things. This summer, I would like to do the same. Can I draw? Definitely not (laughs), but I would like to take classes. Cooking and pottery too. Photography has turned from a hobby into a job. I will continue to do it because I love it, but I want to continue expanding my interests, no matter what the final product will be.
Take a day trip
Memphis is perfect for a few days trip as there are many small towns and cities within a four hour drive. I make the most of every situation so I don’t feel the need to stay somewhere for days to have fun. Just spending a few hours exploring the city is a great way to refresh your senses without spending a lot of money.
There are many other things to do but I think this is a good start. I know it’s simple and not all that exciting but as I get older I crave simplicity in life.
What’s on your summer bucket list?
