How to Add Character to a Plain Space Without Breaking the Bank

You’ve bought a modern home and you’re excited. But looking at the plains and white walls, it looks a bit…barren. Infusing personality and charm into a newly built home is not a small feat. These properties were often born yesterday and very literally – characters are not usually introduced overnight.

Fortunately, there are several effective strategies. Here’s how to add characters to your plain space without breaking the bank:

1. Choose a bold accent wall or paint

Paint or wallpaper instantly transform a single wall. Another study Accent wall ideas; These function as outstanding features. Think about how it interacts with other walls. I’ve been playing the color blocking and paint and sailing combo for a while.

2. Upgrade your lighting

The lights are important. These basic light bulbs on white wiring do not benefit from your plain space. Replace these basic fixtures with statement lighting – think of pendants, table lamps, and pack lights – add layers and interest.

If you feel really smart, research three categories of lighting.

3. Hardware swap: handles, knobs, switches

Hardware is one of the finishing finishes that actually affect the aesthetics of the room. It’s amazing how the Builder-Grade knob can do. Increase the doors and cabinets with handles, knobs and switches that ooze the character.

4. Texture introduction: Rugs, cushions, wood

One of the things that scream characters is the contrast of tactile sensation. It could be a wood paneling in the hallway or a furry rug on the living room floor. Play with the concept of textures and add tactile warmth to a cold, moving new build.

5. Bring vintage or recreated works

I’m looking for a little more personalized pre-roved furniture, including the internet, charity shops, salvage yards. Other potential vintage or reclaimed works include mirror frames or architectural elements.

6. Install Built-in Shelving and Nook

There is nothing to convey “a home of depth and character” like built-in shelves and hidden corners. Custom shelves, window seats, or cubbys add practicality and charm. These will become functional focuses – certainly have you lived here for years?

7. Frame view and dress window

Window treatments are an underrated opportunity to play with spaces and views. Do you hang the curtains high? It gives a higher ceiling look. Consider materials that can help you build picturesque scenery and support layering, or add structure with Roman blinds and shutters.

8. Add greenery and art

Want to bring life to your suffocating and moving fortunes? Add plants – yes, the real thing. These amazing items will improve the air quality of your home and create natural comfort regardless of your location.

It is worth noting that many of these properties are already built into the green space area. For example, many Pontefractoch’s new home Welcome is in the lush Upton. Incorporating greenery and nature-themed art into your home combines the sense of indoor and outdoor space.

Adding characters to the plain space can be difficult, but it’s not impossible. What steps are you taking to breathe personality into your property?
