Demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) lives a life in exile in the Forest of Oz, fighting for the freedom of the animals silenced by Oz and desperately trying to uncover the truth she knows about the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).
Meanwhile, Glinda becomes a charming symbol of goodness to all of Oz, living in a palace in the Emerald City and enjoying the perks of fame and popularity. Under the guidance of Madame Morrible (Oscar),® Winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda acts as a cheering comfort to Oz, reassuring the public that all is under the Wizard’s control.
As Glinda’s stardom grows and she prepares for her spectacular Ozian wedding to Prince Fiyero (Olivier Award winner and Emmy and Academy Award nominee Jonathan Bailey), Glinda is troubled by her breakup with Elphaba. She attempts to mediate mediation between Elphaba and the wizard, but her efforts fail, and Elphaba and Glinda only grow further apart. Aftershocks forever changes Bok (Tony nominee Ethan Slater) and Fiyero, and threatens the safety of Elphaba’s sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode) when a girl from Kansas crashes into their lives.
As an angry mob revolts against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba must unite one last time. With their singular friendship now the pillar of their future, they will need to truly see each other with honesty and empathy if they want to change themselves and Oz as a whole forever.
