Chee-hoo! Moana, Maui, Hei-hei, Pua the pig and Kakamora with their darts are back. And this is just the beginning of an all-new big-screen adventure. A new trailer and poster for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana, which hits theaters on November 27, 2024, have been revealed. Tonight, stars Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson got an enthusiastic response when they debuted the trailer for the first time together on stage at D23 to fans attending the Studio Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Cravalho, under the direction of Tiana Liufau, who did the reference choreography for Moana and the new film, performed one of the film’s new songs, “We’re Back,” live with Nono-Sina Polynesian dancers and drummers, to the delight of the crowd, and Johnson led the crowd in a rapturous “Chee-hoo!” chant.
Additional voice actors were also announced, including Rachel House (Moana’s grandmother, Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father, Chief Tui), and Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother, Sheena), who will be reprising their roles from the first film. The film also features Hualalai Chong, David Fehn, and Rose Matafeo as Moana’s new crew members Moni, Kele, and Loto, respectively. Awimai Fraser will voice the mysterious new character Matangi. Gerald Ramsey will voice Moana’s ancestor Tautai Vaasa, and Khaleesi Lambert Tsuda will voice Moana’s adorable sister, Simea, who adores her.
In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana, Moana (voice of Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Johnson) are reunited after three years and embark on an epic new voyage with an unlikely crew.
