Last night I had a great time with some very stylish ladies at 5 Church restaurant in Buckhead. We saw several local designers showcasing their fashion and watching creative minds bring their creations to life. I had the chance to hear Christian Caldwell, Laura Flagg, and Elizabeth Keyes talk about how they got their start and how they got selected. ShineThe panel was moderated by WSB-Tv’s Melanie McCrea and journalist and television host Emily Foley.
Guests enjoyed cocktails, light snacks, and a panel discussion spotlighting creatives in the Atlanta community, as well as the chance to see an exclusive fashion show showcasing the latest looks from SHEIN X designers.
SHEIN was founded in 2008 by Chris Xu in Nanjing, China. It started as a small online retailer selling mostly women’s fashion. The company quickly gained popularity due to its ability to quickly produce and sell on-trend clothing at affordable prices. This growth was fueled by data-driven marketing and supply chain efficiencies.
SHEIN ships to over 220 countries and regions around the world, making it one of the most globalized online fashion retailers. Originally focusing on women’s fashion, SHEIN has now expanded to offer men’s and children’s clothing, accessories, shoes, bags, and even home decor.
SHEIN has a strong presence on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, where influencers and customers frequently showcase their purchases, with the hashtag #SHEINHaul becoming particularly popular.
In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, SHEIN hosted a virtual fashion show called “SHEIN Together,” featuring celebrity performances and influencer appearances to raise funds for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
SHEIN is known for its fast fashion business model, which allows the company to quickly produce new designs based on the latest trends, allowing it to release new items every day.
Although SHEIN is often criticized for its environmental impact, the brand has made several efforts towards sustainability, including launching the “SHEIN For All” initiative to promote inclusive fashion, as well as participating in various charitable causes.
