Before heading to the advance screening of “ Wicked: For GoodAs a treat to myself, I rewatched the first movie to make sure I was completely caught up in its magic. I’m glad I did, because this new chapter draws you in from the first scene and never lets up. It’s not often that a movie completely grabs my attention, but this one definitely did.

Cynthia Erivo is charming as Elphaba. From the moment she appears on screen, she pulls you straight into her world as she searches for belonging, peace, and love, constantly being misunderstood. Her journey is emotional and heavy at times, and you can’t help but root for her with all your heart.

Ariana Grande then appears as Glinda, sparkling in every way. She brings charm, humor, and vulnerability to Good Witch, while also revealing the insecurities she hides beneath her beauty and shine. She also longs for love, but with the wrong person, and her slightly condescending nature adds an interesting complexity to her character.

What struck me most was that the townspeople were led to believe that Elphaba was evil, when the truth was so far from it. As I watch her fight, the lies, loneliness, and judgment hit home. This is a reminder of how often we make assumptions about others without knowing the real story behind the scenes, especially in today’s social media world.

Even with magical abilities, Elphaba feels heartbroken just like everyone else. Glinda, on the other hand, has everything that many dream of: beauty, privilege, admiration, but even she cannot buy the love she most desires. What a powerful contrast.

The movie itself is breathtaking, with great cinematography, a straightforward and emotional storyline, and sparkling performances. Standouts for me were Jeff Goldblum as the wizard, who brought charm and chaos with ease, and Marissa Bode as Nesarose, who gave a quiet, powerful performance full of longing and conflict. Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero is another highlight as we see Elphaba in her raw form and the chemistry is undeniable. He definitely chose the right witch!

Now I have to talk about the costume. Paul Tazewell has returned to working with Cynthia and Ariana, and the fact that he calls them his muses shows it. Each look was flawless, with rich fabrics, dramatic silhouettes, impeccable tailoring, and dazzling details. I was especially blown away by Glinda’s wardrobe. The design moves beautifully on screen and is commendable in every way.

whole, Wicked: For Good It was a truly magical experience, emotionally fulfilling, visually spectacular and unexpectedly surprising. The ending made me want to see more, so please read Part 3!

Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), now demonized; evil Living in exile in the Forest of Oz, the Witch of the West continues her fight for the freedom of the animals silenced by Oz, desperately trying to uncover the truth she knows about the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).

Meanwhile, Glinda becomes a charming symbol of goodness to all of Oz, living in a palace in the Emerald City and enjoying the perks of fame and popularity. Under the guidance of Madame Morrible (Oscar),® Winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda acts as a cheering comfort to Oz, reassuring the public that all is under the Wizard’s control.

As Glinda’s stardom grows and she prepares for her spectacular Ozian wedding to Prince Fiyero (Olivier Award winner and Emmy and Academy Award nominee Jonathan Bailey), Glinda is troubled by her breakup with Elphaba. She attempts to mediate mediation between Elphaba and the wizard, but her efforts fail, and Elphaba and Glinda only grow further apart. Aftershocks forever changes Bok (Tony nominee Ethan Slater) and Fiyero, and threatens the safety of Elphaba’s sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode) when a girl from Kansas crashes into their lives.

As an angry mob rises defiantly, evil The Witch, Glinda, and Elphaba must come together one last time. With their singular friendship now the pillar of their future, they will need to truly see each other with honesty and empathy if they want to change themselves and Oz as a whole. good.
