Happy new year! I can’t believe 2026 is already two weeks away. I was able to take a real vacation, which I really needed. I still had some social media work to do (I handle social services for a few clients), but I had zero shoots in two weeks, and I loved it. I was able to sleep late, play with family and friends, do a little tidying up around the house, and just relax.
Normally I would like to start the new year a little early to maximize my productivity, but this year I decided not to and decided to slow down a lot. December is the beginning of winter, not the end, so rushing to be productive and trying to get everything done during the holidays wasn’t in my plans. I work for myself and to be honest I was tired so I decided to actually take some time off and spend 2026 relaxing.
And you know what? I’m still taking it easy.
Working as a creator while also working as a blogger, influencer, and content creator can be mentally exhausting. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do and am very grateful for this career. But constantly worrying about creating content for myself and my clients and posting to social media every day can be exhausting, so whenever I get a chance to slow down, I take it. Plus, since I’m chronically online, I know I need to get better at disconnecting, and this is the perfect time to do it. Why is it that it’s colder, more depressing days than not, and there’s not much going on “outside” anyway?
So, while I am officially back to work, I plan on continuing to take it easy in 2026. I don’t plan on filling my schedule with events or social outings over the next few months. What I try to do is enjoy my home and participate in cozy activities. I’m going to visit some museums, coffee shops, and restaurants that I’ve had my eye on for a while, I’m going to invite a friend or two to hang out, and I (finally) have a ton of new books and magazines to read, so there’s a lot to do.

I also want to try out some recipes from the cookbooks I own, since I don’t have many opportunities to cook straight away (although I did serve lasagna for Christmas brunch, which wowed everyone, LOL, and I made pasta the other night while dancing around in the kitchen to Olivia Deane). I know that “slow living” and “analogue activities” are all the rage as lifestyle trends right now, and honestly, they just make sense at this time of year. Plus, disconnecting and doing things without documenting everything on your phone (or rather, sharing everything you’ve documented) can actually help you become a better and more interesting creator.
I would like to take my time as we look towards 2026. I would love to know how you are spending this winter.
Are you slowing down too, or are you going full steam ahead?
