Five years ago I ventured into the world of mommy blogging in Canada… it was so much fun, I had the opportunity to bring my whole family along for some amazing experiences.

Blogging tips for moms!

First of all, it’s important to have a clear understanding of your audience. Identify your niche market and target audience, for example, black mothers in Canada or breastfeeding mothers in the US.

Next, focus on relationship building. Networking and connecting is essential. And you can do it all online (if you’re shy). Attend mommy events, connect with other bloggers, content creators and influencers, engage with PRs and brands through social media. Yes, hop in your DMs.

It’s important to build long-term partnerships and relationships. Support their content and they will support you. Always keep track of your statistics – for example, audience demographics, engagement rates, past collaborations with other brands, etc. For example, my reach is high in the US and Canada, but I know I can reach readers in the UK and India as well. Cool!

Finally, always follow up/reconnect. It’s important to remember that support doesn’t come overnight, so be persistent but don’t be pushy. Also, realize that you will get turned down sometimes. It’s tough, but it’s part of life.

Brush it off and go!
