What’s Your Favorite Movie of the Year So Far?

After watching a really good movie, you love leaving the theater and everything feels vivid. After that, you google everyone and get excited to chat with the person who saw the movie in question, and realize that you are still thinking about it a few weeks later. This is one movie of the year that did it for me…

Sorry baby

Sorry, baby He bowled me. Eva Victor’s directorial debut, which they also wrote and starred, followed Agnes through the years of her life, and continued in good order. There are not only “years with babies” and “years of really good sandwiches”, but also “years of bad things.” When Eva shared the film’s poster on Instagram, they confirmed that “nothing bad happens to cats.”

Instead, it’s Agnes that bad things happen. “I wrote this movie, so it’s part of your confused situation because I have some of the traumatic experiences I’ve never seen on screen often,” Eva said. Sundance Interview. “I’ve been floating for years and I’m trying to accept that I’ve gone through something bad,” as they said, the film “honors the lost years.” To write the script, Eva drilled a hole in Maine one winter, along with many cans of cat and split pea soup.

The warm friendship between Agnes and Liddy (Naomi Akki) is a central love story that animates the film. However, when Liddy’s life moves her away from the small town she meets in graduate school, Agnes feels stuck. Getting an impressive educational job at university means staying in a place that is plagued by catastrophic student experiences. “Bad things” is an up-and-coming song expression, but it’s also a perfect explanation, even with its childlike clarity.

Offers a truly inspiring portrait of the reverberation of trauma and one person Sorry, baby It’s also very interesting. In the theater, I laughed a lot and cried a little. I loved Agnes and would have been happy to spend 100 years with her. Of the film reception, Eva said recently LA Times“I keep listening, ‘Oh, Agnes is so annoying.’ I say, ‘What the heck?’ I’m very humbled and humbled by the reactions of people to how strange they think they are, ‘Oh, I thought she was legally acting normally, but I thought it was okay.’ ”

What’s your favorite movie so far this year? If you see Sorry, babyI want to know what you think.
