Readers often come to Joe’s Cup for pickup. But we follow what’s going on in LA and it’s spreading across the country. And I think you might as well–and I feel it’s important to talk. This is what’s going on and how to help…
What’s going on in Los Angeles now?
Since Friday, LA crowds have been protesting against the Trump administration’s new, massive workplace raids, like Home Depot, where federal agents are looking for undocumented people.
Why are some immigrants undocumented?
Most immigrants in the United States are documented. but Some are not documented.
There are currently 2.1 million people awaiting decisions regarding asylum claims. Some people were allowed to enter the United States for humanitarian or national security reasons, or because they were not safe to return home. Some people were state-sanctioned on temporary tourists, students, or work visas, but stayed for the period they were permitted.
Specifically, many people across the border are seeking asylum from gang violence in Central America. “An eight-year-old boy is forced into a gang. If they or their parents are rejected, they will be murdered. Young girls become the property of gang members and are forced to be treated as sexual slaves.
Why are people so mad at these new workplace attacks in LA and across the country?
Trump has vowed to crack down on immigration, including massive deportation. There is ICE (US immigration and customs enforcement) Tripled their daily arrest target And it rose to meet these new quotas. Ice is currently restraining people at work. Deiraball gathering locations, on the streets, and even Court hearing. Over the past few months, I have ICE Deported people without due process and He had people in the detention center, often Abuse and inhumane states. There is ice I grabbed people off the street Without displaying badges I destroyed the car window Without displaying the warrant. Last month, US Customs and Border Protection quietly repealed several rules that provide protection for pregnant women, postpartum women, and infants within the immigration detention system.
What did the LA Mayor say?
“When you attack Home Depot or workplace, you rip parents and children apart, and run armored caravans on our streets, you’re not trying to make anyone safe – you’re trying to cause fear and panic,” Mayor Karen Bass said.
Is it okay to protest these attacks and other things the government is doing?
absolutely. Compared to authoritarian countries, an important part of living in a democracy is that citizens are allowed to protest and speak out. “Very often, protest is the only way to hear a small number of voices,” he wrote. Stephen JonesPhD, Professor at Harvard University. “Protest lies at the heart of democratic consciousness. That’s why authoritarian governments contain, condemn, oppress, and oppress them.”
How is Trump responding to the Los Angeles protest?
People have the right to protest, but Trump quickly deployed 4,700 National Guard troops and Marines in the LA area. This is usually without approval from governor Gavin Newsom, who is in command of the California State Guard. The officers wearing masks and bulletproof vests are armed with pepper spray, rubber bullets, batons, tear gas and flash bang hand rena bullets.

Is the LA protest peaceful?
The protests were largely peaceful, but some protesters threw eggs, rocks or other objects at police officers and burned cars, including several self-driving Waymo vehicles. Mayor Karen Bass has placed a curfew A mile in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday night will prevent vandalism and looting. She also points out that most of the city is calm. “Some of the images of protest and violence seem to be as though this is a citywide crisis, but it’s not.”
How about all the videos on social media?
As always, it’s important to get your news from trustworthy publications. Fake images flooding is being circulated online online by Trump supporters to blow out anger over immigrants and confuse people about what is actually happening, reports nytimes. Darren L. LinvilleResearchers at Clemson University’s Media Forensic Hub said conservative online “builds riots with performances,” making it seem like LA has been taken over by “violent, rebel mobs.”

What about other US cities?
Trump threatened that Los Angeles protesters would meet “equal or greater power” than Los Angeles protesters.
