New England items are needed in the fall
leggings

leggings // Hiking boots // top // socks
Leggings first. This is my charm and something I have never traveled before. I’ve done the whole posts about leggings, but these remain my favorites. Leggings are great, especially in the fall of New England. I like:
You can see my guide to the best leggings for your trip here.
Long sleeve tops
New England fall is all about layering, and long sleeve tops are the nameless heroes of your travel wardrobe. You need something breathable enough to wear while walking around town on a sunny afternoon, but it’s warm enough to layer under your jacket for an early morning hike. If your bonus point is moisture-absorbing fabric – Yes, even in autumn, you’ll get sweaty when hiking uphill.

jeans

Jeans have a reason. It’s versatile and durable, perfect for casual days spent exploring small towns or grabbing a bite at a roadside diner. We recommend stretchy or straight leg jeans for comfort, especially if you are sitting for a long drive. Don’t worry. They combine perfectly with your boots and your favorite autumn flannel.
these Jeans are very flattering And a good price range. these Abercrombie’s “Carlove” Jeans It’s my absolute favorite.
sweater

Have you ever been to New England in the fall without packing at least one cozy sweater? ! I’m a huge fan of cream sweaters, but I also love the fall sweaters with details! Chunky knit or fleece pullovers are ideal for layering long sleeve tops, and they will keep you warm when the temperature begins to soak, especially near the mountains or shore.
boots
I usually bring one or two pairs. One is for hiking, and the other is because it feels cute in leggings or skirts. these Hiking boots That’s something I’ve talked about for years. Weared them to walk hundreds of miles!

Comfortable and waterproof boots Required. Depending on the weather, you’ll probably be walking on trails, crispy leaves, and even muddy ground. I recommend ankle boots with good treads or waterproof hiking boots. These are perfect for both city walks and spontaneous scenic oversights. Trust me – you don’t want to slip in your sneakers.
I like it too Cute high-knee boots Wear it to get your Apple Cider donuts!
hat// Beanie

The hat may look like a cute accessory (and that’s it!), but it also serves purpose. Chilly mornings help keep your head warm and block the wind. I usually stuff a wide wool beanie or felt hat. I think a good thick beanie can complete the outfit!

socks

This may sound dramatic, but good socks can make or break your day. I always pack several pairs of wool or cushioned hiking socks. They keep your feet warm, dry, and blisters warm – whether you’re trekking the mountain trails or just wandering through patches of pumpkins. Don’t skimp these!
skirt

a skirt In autumn? absolutely. Pair with tights and boots and you’ll find cozy outfits for the town exploring an apple or a lovely dinner. I usually bring a Midi skirt that I can wear on top and bottom, and it rarely holds any room in your bag.
tights

These are game changers. In autumn in New England, I like to stuff my regular tights, but if it’s chilly, there’s a choice of lined up with fleece! Fleece tights Don’t freeze your feet and wear a dress or skirt. It’s also great for layering under jeans or leggings if the temperature really drops. Wearing these under a raincoat on a wet 40-degree day in Vermont, it remained completely warm and dry.
I love these tights overall as they come in classic black and a variety of colors!
jacket(Rain jacket))

Fall in New England is known for its colours…and the mood of the weather sways. a Packable, Waterproof rain jacket It’s essential. Don’t be fooled if your predictions are clear. A sudden drizzle can always collide, especially in the mountains. If you need additional insulation, we recommend a lightweight shell that can be layered underneath, or a 3-in-1 jacket.
I don’t want to start talking about how long My husband studied this rain jacket. But that has something to do with spreadsheets.
I also love it This jacket– Investment, but you’ll have it for the rest of your life!
Flannel shirt

If you don’t pack flannel, can you even call it a New England fall trip? This is the ultimate autumn layer work. Flannel shirt Warm but breathable, perfect for throwing long sleeve tees under jackets during the day or at night. They scream too Fall foliage fashion– And yes, they look adorable in the photo next to the covered bridge and maple tree. Bonus: If the weather is mild, they double as a light jacket.
