A few years ago, we wrote about coupons for kids. Think “Dad will train with me (like push-ups or sprints)” or “Mom will take me out for hot chocolate.” Since then, we’ve come up with a few more ideas along with our readers…
*Choose a dinner menu for one night
* Stay up late and play Codenames with your mom
* Help dad build a fort on your bed and you sleep in it
* Go to the store and pick out the sweetest cereal for tomorrow’s breakfast (note from CoJ reader Sarah: “When we got home with Trix, Cocoa Puffs and Reese’s, our 2-year-old realized we had to wait until morning to try it, then cried for 20 minutes on the grass in the dark, refusing all comfort. Whatever they do, they never stop being themselves!”)
*Drink Dr Pepper with dinner
*Walk your friend’s dog around the neighborhood
* Be your dad’s personal trainer for 20 minutes
* Mom takes a video of you playing table tennis
* Create a Saturday morning playlist
* Take a relaxing bath with candles lit
*Days when you don’t take out the trash
* Choose your dad’s outfit for the day
* Mom will watch you play Block Blast for 15 minutes
* Warm cookies are waiting for you when you get home after school.
* Drive around your neighborhood in your pajamas and count the Christmas trees in the windows.
* Play a big game of hide and seek (Pro tip: Anton turned on a YouTube video called “Paper Rusty” on my phone and buried it in the basket, so I 100% thought he was hiding there — great)
* Open one Christmas present early
*A whole can of whipped cream that you can eat anytime
A reader named Sondra added: “I have five children, and my middle son, Sam, gave me a coupon that said, ‘Sam is right.'” He said he can use it to resolve sibling conflicts he’s involved in, minimizing frustration and stress on me. It was great! ”
What are your thoughts? What would you like to add? More coupon ideas here and here!
