I have a huge passion for wallpaper. When it came to choosing wallpaper for my 1904 home, I spent hours ordering samples and months wallpapering different rooms before finally making a decision. In this post, I’ll share the wallpapers I used in my home and answer some common wallpaper questions.

Our first choice for the bedroom was Catherine Sage Wallpaper By Lurie Wallace. Dusty Blueit’s very beautiful.
Chinese medlar wallpaperFor this breakfast nook adjacent to the kitchen, I wanted a pattern that would feel cozy and homey all year round. This pattern has been going for over a year now and it’s just perfect. My only regret is that I want to repaint the built-ins a dusty blue to match the blue of the wallpaper print.
Parchment Butterfly WallpaperThis little window nook is on the third floor of our study. Except for this nook, the entire room (including the ceiling) is painted in muted colors. I originally thought I would paint a mural in this space, but then I fell in love with this butterfly pattern and the rest is history. I absolutely love it.
Saint Sebastian by Rebels MuralI love this soft, low contrast treescape. I think it’s very accurate to the era our house was built in. Again, finding the perfect paper that would evoke the four seasons was my biggest focus. How the paper would fit into Halloween or Christmas decorations or a child’s birthday party is a big deal to me.
Delft Blue Storyline WallpaperThis is my second Hygge and the West This is the design for our home. We used this design in our previous home (it was a lighter color) and the second time you use it you can see it’s a really good design.
What I love about this design is that, although it is understated, there are lots of cute characters to be found within the pattern, such as swans and pigs.
Morris Wallpaper Wine Fruit DesignI love the deep, atmospheric feel of this pattern, and so far every time I choose a darker pattern it has become my favorite spot in the house.
House of Hackney London Rose Wallpaper Smoke GreyI read this paper pinkThis print has been around for a while and I’ve always loved it. I’m so happy I finally found a place for it in my home. It’s in our guest bedroom.

FAQ
What affordable wallpaper would you recommend?
To be honest, this is the question I get asked most often. There is no such thing as “cheap” wallpaper. It’s a line item that adds up (especially when you add in installation costs). This blog has lots of DIYs to simulate the look of wallpaper on a budget.
Do you put up the wallpaper yourself?
I always hire a professional wallpaper installer. I think this is worth it to me because I’m not a perfectionist and wallpaper needs to be installed with a reasonable degree of precision. The installation fee is often almost as much as the wallpaper. Also, everytime To avoid reordering, have your installer measure out how many rolls you need.
What do you think about removable wallpaper?
I’ve had experiences with “peelable” wallpapers that damaged my walls, and traditional wallpapers that are very easy to remove. Both are expensive, so I now stick to traditional wallpapers. If you live in a rental property and want to try peelable wallpaper, I recommend trying it out in a test area first to make sure it doesn’t tear your walls.
If you have any questions please let me know in the comments. xx- Elsie
