I loved having my aunt who was my spiritual home. She wasn’t exactly a fun person, but she was actually very classy and bossy. She also intimidated my mother (sister) a lot. But I loved her. She helped me choose my wedding dress, found me my first rental in college, and took me through college. She was the only one who knew what it was like to have a sick child. I was worried that the child wouldn’t last… She had a daughter, but their relationship was difficult (her daughter was the most selfish person I’ve ever met). When my mother, my aunt, died, she told my mother that she didn’t have enough inheritance to see her through, so my cancer-stricken aunt didn’t even take a taxi home. From chemo! But when my aunt took her last breath, it was holding my hand. After all the years we had, she was safe in my company. As her sister and daughter left the room to have tea, I held her hand and thanked her for the love. Then her chest rattled and then stopped. I loved her and she knew it and she left. What more can a person ask for in life than to love and be loved? Anyone who knows the love of someone like my aunt is truly a lucky person. Aunties are amazing. They are the only ones who know more than you how annoying your parents are (lol). If you can be one of those ladies, you will make the world a better and brighter place.
