Never get bored Somsak Sikheungmuongcreative director. alex mill And probably the most amazing person working in the fashion industry today. (Fun fact: this CoJ post about Somsak big salad!) Today, I’m excited to share a tour of his apartment in Queens, stacked with rugs, tilted with art, and filled with windowsills. “I have a lot of stuff, but each piece reminds me of the travels I’ve taken and where I was in my career when I found it,” he warned us. here we go…
living room

paint:”manchester tongueWritten by Benjamin Moore Table: Paul McCobb via Modlib Sap. sofa: ABC Carpet + Home. Stand lamp: Ladirum Shiny orange color. Pillow: from John Derian I also travel to Hawaii, France, and Italy. ” Textiles: “Vintage finds in Portland, Tokyo, and Paris.” Photo on the sofa: jamie hawksworth.
About blending styles: I love combining industrial pieces with textured and romantic pieces. If the rooms were all the same, it wouldn’t be as interesting to me. I like that sense of tension.

About beloved art: I’m a bit of an outgoing person. But when I’m at home, I’m just hanging out by myself and 95% of the time I’m sitting on the couch. The photo above is jamie hawksworth. I bought this as a gift for myself after it got a big promotion at J.Crew.

Plaid rug: Cat + Mushu. Tripod stand lamp: mark handley. Textiles on the table: Hawaiian quilts from Honolulu. White ceramic plate:”my own”Yellow vase: Gail Spanaus.
About travel strategy: Before your trip, research one must-visit store in an off-the-beaten-path location. Then, when you get there, ask the shopkeeper for some local recommendations. This often unlocks amazing places I would never have known about and doesn’t require much advance preparation.

Chair and console: Rett of happy medium. pillow: John Derian. pedestal: Matthias Briens.
A less environmentally friendly opinion: I have grown many plants, but the ones that still remain are those that don’t require much water. What is on the pedestal used to be richer. I always joke that this is my version of Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree. My ritual with plants is that if I see a plant and feel sorry for it, I water it.

Left: Ceramics: “Mostly my”Marble fruit: John Derian. Right: Table: mark handley“I think of this beautiful little red table as a table of memories.” Object: “Contains a seal found in Alaska.”
About my new hobby: After the coronavirus, I started making pottery by myself. I took some wheel classes and they were terrible. That’s what I thought as I left. I don’t know what’s wrong. Then I tried my hand at crafting and never looked back.

Photo on the left: jamie hawksworth. Draw on the floor: Jeanne Thomsen. Wax seal in frame: eBay. Bullfighter Jacket: eBay. Red metal shelving unit: resemble.
About collection: “I bought this vintage bullfighter jacket on eBay and love the beading and embroidery. collected old clothes Decades worth of old magazines and books too. Pinterest is great, but I often see the same batch of images over and over again. If you open an old book, those images aren’t even on the internet. ”
dining corner

Flight: BDDW. table cloth: xenomania. Plaid rug: Cat + Mushu.
A rug on a rug on a rug: Over the years, I’ve brought home not just one large rug, but many smaller rugs. I like that they look better when stacked, and to be honest, I have so many rugs that I don’t have room for anything else underneath some of them.

In a rescue mission: When I was in fourth grade, my teacher had a magazine that people could cut and paste. My sister and I used to rescue them and bring them home because we thought they were too big to cut. I don’t know why kids that age would think that, but we did. Now I have all the issues fashion Since 1995.
kitchen

printing: Hugo Guinness. bowl: Atelier Saint Andre Perrin.
If you want to buy one: I’ve never run out of parsley, so someone needs to come up with a single-person grocery store. If a recipe has more than 5 ingredients, I’ll probably skip it.

About the important things: What should I save in case of a fire? Probably my passport and the little cards and photos I have on my fridge.
bedroom

paint:”steel woolQuilt by Benjamin Moore: “Honolulu Hawaiian Quilt” Striped Blanket: Gift; resemble. Gingham check pillow cover: MUJI, resemble.
About sleeping well: I sleep better when my bedroom is dark, but I was nervous about painting my entire room a dark color. So I painted the entire wall. That’s enough.

Lamp: set from Cafiero Select. Matchbox print: Hugo Guinness. Bat print: Delors. Nightstand: Custom from Sean Bilosky of iron oaks.
About floor art: Not all of my art is hung. Some of it is lazy, but some of it is done on purpose. You will need to remove your white gloves when placing something on the floor or stacking it behind something else. It’s not unkempt, just more casual. There are many ways to make your home a cozy space, and this is one of them.

About dressing up: Last year, a bunch of my colleagues and I dressed up as: Marie Antoinette cake For Halloween. I made the costume at the office. Another year, I went to a party with a friend who was also interested in costumes. When I got there, I looked around and it looked like people were wearing cat ears and Bob with fake noses. Meanwhile we were going With all my might”
