Making homemade pumpkin spice syrup is easy and tasty. It’s a great addition to your homemade pumpkin spice latte.
Elsie and I have an internal joke about what’s called the “Pumpkin Spice Latte Effect.” It’s our theory that in the beginning of September, everyone is a little better/more caring/happy. We are included too.

We are certainly affected by the PSL effect. So, of course, making your own pumpkin spice syrup at home is a great way to take advantage of this good atmosphere effect. If you need it, we’ll show you how to create the best latte recipes at home, with or without an espresso machine.

I love trying coffee from anywhere, but I’m not excited about PSL day at Starbucks! And I think, on a “deeper” level, somehow PSL day reminds us that autumn is in full swing.
Here in southern Missouri, it means cool weather, hay rides, hot chocolate, apple picking, pumpkin sculptures, hot cider, layered clothing, and (most importantly) holidays are on the way.

I love how this pumpkin spice syrup recipe turned out. I might have to make this a new tradition every year and create my own pumpkin spice latte effect. cipe Here’s my recipe, but adjust the spices to your liking.
Pumpkin spice syrup ingredients
2 cups of water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon or 4-5 cinnamon sticks (I used half cinnamon and half cinnamon sticks)
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground inger
1/2 tsp ground cloves (I go with cloves easily.
4 tablespoons of pumpkin puree
direction
Combine all the ingredients in a pot. Stir together over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking over low/medium heat for an additional 5-6 minutes (do not bring to a boil).
Strain the mixture through a Fine mesh strainer Store in an airtight container. Store unused syrup in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Make sure to give the syrup a good shake before reusing it.
Enjoy it by combining coffee, PSL syrup and hot milk!

I have a little Home Espresso Maker I got it last Christmas, so I use it to make my own homemade lattes and American food. I am not a barista as you can see in my (deficient) latte art. But syrup really makes this drink!
If you don’t have a home espresso maker, brew (really) strong coffee and heat the milk in a pot over medium/high heat. When it gets hot, use a whisk to inhale the air and create a foam.
