I’ve been making my own pumpkin spice lattes for almost a decade now, and although I love sipping one at a coffee shop when I’m on the go, being able to make it at home is so much fun.
In fact, when I posted my first Pumpkin Spice Syrup recipe many years ago, I heard from a local coffee shop that they were using my recipe to make their Pumpkin Spice Lattes. You can’t imagine how happy I was to hear this.

How to Make a Pumpkin Spice Latte
If you have an espresso machine, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to brew a rich, strong shot of espresso.
The secret to making a great latte is perfectly frothed milk. If you have an espresso machine with a steam wand, place the steam wand just below the surface of the milk and turn it on.
Tilt the pitcher slightly to create a swirl. Continue steaming until the milk has doubled in volume and is smooth and velvety in texture.
If you don’t have a steam wand, you can warm the milk on the stove and froth it by hand. Milk frother Mix vigorously until foamy.
Pour the espresso into a mug and add the syrup.Hold the milk pitcher at a slight angle and pour the foamed milk into the center of the mug to create beautiful latte art.
Home espresso maker
We’ve tried a number of espresso makers over the years, and here are our favorites across price ranges and skill levels.
- Cafe automatic espresso machine – This is the machine I use now. It can use any beans, so if you use high-quality beans you will get high-quality espresso. It makes espresso shots automatically (no barista skills needed) and it even comes with a milk frother wand to heat and froth milk. I’ve used this machine almost daily since I bought it 7 months ago and I love it. It comes in 3 colors.
- Stovetop Espresso – This is the cheapest way to make espresso at home. It takes time and you need to know how to grind the beans to get the best results. But it’s a classic method that works great when done right.
- Breville Barista Touch – I bought this for a close friend as a wedding gift some time ago and he said he loved it. It is a high-end machine and requires some barista skills to operate, but it is a great home espresso maker.
- Nespresso Vertuo – If you’re looking for an espresso maker that uses pods, this is my favorite. Depending on the pod you use, you can make espresso or coffee.
