Hello, friends! I’m very excited to catch up. Last weekend I visited my family for two weeks in Cornwall, England, and after meeting friends in Italy, I went home (more details are coming soon). If you want to see, here are some photos…

The journey from Brooklyn to Cornwall is no joke. You make an overnight flight to London, rent a car, then drive five hours southwest to your aunt’s house.

But after all predictions, you feel spectacular as you enter her village – you have rammed through miles of country lanes and exploded into the harbor. This is my opinion!

Lulu always greets us with drinks, snacks and a huge smile.

We took a happy photo with awkward eyes on the first night.

Anton is reunited with his long-lost cousin Jimmy, his English doppelganger. They are like little soulmates, jumping into the water, eating salt and poison chips, and becoming a prank. (This is a photo from six years ago.)

He’s very brave!

And Toby eventually caught up with his cousin Bo, who was the same age. (Here Sweet slideshow For years theirs. )

On the high walls, babies, toddlers and children are slowly creeping up, but teenagers start shooting 4 inches each year. My sister’s late husband Paul, also once marked his height in the morning and evening, proving that people would be shorter in the daytime.

Meanwhile, Lulu’s dog Jane seemed surprisingly unbelieving in all the chaos.

On a day when it didn’t rain (it’s still in the UK after all), we bring a small boat into the sea and look sideways to see the jellyfish.

The boys swam from the rocks to the boats.

And my father was Sychid When I told him that boat shoes were actually very cool, I didn’t mind!

If so did Rain, we hit the beach.

Lunch was a smash and glove variety…

…Or I got fish and chips and mushy peas from the pub.

We also played a lot of fish. (What other classic card games do you like? I’m looking for Recs forever.)

One afternoon, Julia Bird stops at Lulu’s house, as she lives in the same town. I was so happy to meet her! After chatting about work and her children and marriage, she said, “Well, I need to walk and swim the dog, so I’ll love you and leave you.” How sweet is that phrasing?

This is A wonderful shop in Julia. (I took home a little print for Freddie.)

In the evening we sit outside and chat…

And look at the boat.

One night – the sky wouldn’t get dark until 10pm, so I lay in my bed, looked out over the water, thinking about how many times I’d been to Cornwall since I was seven years old. We missed a few summers here and there — when money was tough, or when I gave birth to a baby, or during quarantine — these annual visits felt like a heartbeat in our lives. We moved around a lot when we were growing up, but my grandparents’ yellow house is exactly the same every year. While writing this post I was thinking that it wasn’t too new to report, but I realized that was the point. It’s all about my cousin, wet suits and fishing lines, and half the avocado in the fridge.

The only catch was a stomach bug that passed through the group. we largely Until we returned to London, I ran unharmed until I caught it from my brother. But every adventure has some ups and downs, right? That’s why it’s a family holiday.
Thank you for reading. We love you, Cornwall! The Italian summary is coming soon…xoxoxo
