Last weekend Joe and I took the kids to San Francisco to visit my sister and her partner. They’ve lived there for over 5 years but we’d never traveled there before. It was really special, we got to do some proper sightseeing together.

Packing for such a long weekend trip to a city that experiences three different climates in one day can be a challenge. When I asked my sister what to include on her packing list for a trip to San Francisco, she said she needed clothes that could be layered. Layering means different things to different people.

Sometimes, you pack clothes for a specific occasion. When your schedule is as fluid as the weather, like this time, I find it best to pack within a unified color palette so you can mix and match outfits depending on your mood during your stay. The colors I chose were neutrals like black, white, and navy, with tomato red accents.

Here is the San Francisco packing list that helped us make the most of our “Fogust” trip.
