This weekend, Anton was sick so he did many calming activities, including reading, eating applesauce and looking at photos of his old family. As always, I felt like I had been inspired by my mother’s style over the years, like these five touches…
1. Button-down shirt under the sweater. Does layering combo look good for people because it frames the face? (In this photo, my mother was newly pregnant, but she still didn’t know that she had twins.)
2. Broken groove. My mother is Classic belt typeBut I love it This streamlined version And they always pull it, including the pajamas they used to walk to school.
3. Brown shade. Needless to say, people wear lots of black in New York – the other day I was looking around a nearby cafe and all 14 people lined up were dressed in black – but! I love how the soft, rich brown feels, especially when layered with other browns. And apparently mixing black and brown has become cool so we go.
4. The oversized shirt looks cool and easy…
…Especially when the sleeves pass by the elbow and become rounded all the way through.
5. Finally, when I came across this photo of my beloved grandpa, my eyes were filled. And how cool was his roll neck sweater? I was somehow moved by it My brown daddy He looks a bit like him. We also loved eating fish, listening to the radio news and watching the kids play.
Do you have any old photos of relatives? What was their style like? I want to hear it. It always bulges my heart.
PS My mother’s beauty uniform, having a baby in Paris, and what it’s like to be twins.
