We’ve been receiving lots of beauty questions from Cup of Jo readers. Today I wanted to answer five questions (I would love to hear your answers too!)
“What is the ultimate product that has made the biggest difference in your self-image?” — Claire
A. What a fun question. I love playing with makeup and finding things that work. I looked at the bathroom counter and noticed that there were five products I wear every day and bought multiple items.
* Gemma’s lipsticks find the perfect colour that brightens your whole face (the most complimentary beauty item I’ve ever had)
* Daily sunscreen and can’t believe it scent
* Blur Primer Make your skin look brighter from inside
* Baby Blush For the sweetest and sexy flash
* Ilia mascara It makes your eyelashes look longer and richer, but doesn’t have the terrible chemical smell of many mascara.
“The foundation (Armani) we’ve been using for many years is no longer manufactured! What have you moved to? And do you like it?” — Gwen
A. Confession: I was influenced by Instagram ads and tried it out. Ilmaquiage FoundationI have to say I love it. When I wake up in the morning, my face tends to be red and spotted, but the formula keeps everything even, yet looks natural and soft.
Q. “I’m looking for a concealer under the eyes that won’t wrinkle and won’t cost $100. How about Recs?” — Ivy
A. I don’t have any strong opinions, so I consulted a genius friend. Gemma. “I’m wearing it hourglass “This formula is very creamy and hides pores and fine lines and lasts all day long. There are lots of wrinkles under the eyes, which are tough, but this is the most seamless concealer I’ve ever known.”

(What Gemma is wearing Raneage Glowing Makeup Serumfollowed by hourglass and Ilia blushes at Closer. )
“What kind of spa treatments do you receive regularly?” — Joan
A. know Hunter Harris She swears facials, and her skin is nice. I personally don’t take facial salons, but I love massaging my legs for 30 minutes every few months. Bergen Spa; They somehow make your whole body feel great. And during the holiday season, Freddie and I created a new tradition of going out together. Aire Ancient Bath. Although it’s not cheap (and therefore an annual luxury), the candle-lit bath and diving are very romantic and otherworldly.
“I’ll soon be 40! What’s the secret to beauty for the last decade?” — Jen
A. I’ve never written this before, but somehow I always thought I would die at a young age. (Maybe too many) Young Grass Story?) So, I’m now 46 years old and feel really fortunate to be here. This weekend I read something that talks about how I feel about beauty at this age. By Erin Shetron Frequent Cryer Club“We want little girls to look at us and get older with peace of mind. We want them all to be a little ugly in their own unique way. We want them to resist external beauty standards and define and meet our own internal beauty standards beyond aging faces, curved noses and sagging skin.” Yes! I love playing with lipstick My trustworthy hairbrushBut when it comes to aging, I also love the laughing creases around my eyes, the freckles on my right thigh that look like a Big Dipper, and even the neckline when I watch 30 Rock reruns on my phone in bed. Never have little kids looking at you and thinking, “Damn, it’s Botox time!” Instead, they squeal “Aunt Joe!”, swinging their arms up, breaking the block with their staggered legs, and coming to ask for a hug. At least that’s what happened last night when Toby and I took a strawberry popsicle for Georgie and her brother. I hope that seeing me, 43 years older, will make me feel safe somewhere in my heart as well as an adult.

What are your thoughts? How do you answer these questions? If you have any other beauty questions, please leave them below. Damn it
