Lightweight Yet Hydrating: Elizavecca Hwa Yu Hong Flower Essence Lotion with Purple Energy

Dry skin moisturizers can really give your skin a boost, but sometimes all your skin needs is a bit of fresh moisture without the sticky feeling. This is especially true during the hot summer months, when pores tend to get clogged with oil, sweat, and city grime.

Today I want to tell you about Elizavecca’s Fayuhong Flower Essence Lotion, which may become your new skincare companion. This lightweight hybrid essence lotion packs intense moisturizing and brightening powers, formulated with the magic of the purple plant. Want to know more?

About Elizavecca Fayuhon Flower Essence Lotion

Flower Essence Lotion* boasts a unique formula that combines the power of purple botanicals with intense moisturizing power. This essence-type lotion addresses a variety of dry skin concerns to leave skin looking radiant and energized. Its “purple energy” comes from extracts of borage, cornflower, hyacinth, lavender, salvia, and nightshade (aka aubergine). We’ll take a closer look at this purple bouquet later.

What is Essence Lotion?

Essence Lotion is a hybrid skin care product that combines the properties of both an essence and a lotion.

  • essence: They’re usually light, watery formulas packed with concentrated active ingredients like hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and botanical extracts. Think of it as a viscous liquid with a stringy or jelly-like texture. Essences are designed to penetrate deep into the skin and prepare it for subsequent skincare steps.
  • lotion: Compared to essences, lotions are generally thicker in texture and usually have a higher water content than creams. Think of it as a cream diluted with water to make a smooth liquid. Lotion provides basic hydration They may also contain additional ingredients to address specific concerns, such as sebum control or skin brightening.

So how does Elizavecca Essence Lotion combine the two? Essence Lotion is a little more substantial than a pure essence, aiming to provide more hydration and possibly additional benefits. It’s designed to be lightweight and quickly absorbed into the skin, but with a bit of the texture of a cream and the potential benefits of a lotion.

package:

The packaging is very different from other Elizavecca products: Firstly, it has a totally different design: instead of the famous pig mascot who loves to try out different skincare products, it features an illustration of a beautiful young woman in traditional Korean dress.

The plastic bottle is simple and convenient. The Elizavecca Fruit Acid Toner also comes in the same bottle, so the packaging is familiar. You get 200ml/6.7oz of product for this price, so it’s a great deal!

Texture and aroma:

The texture is incredibly pleasant. It’s light and a little thicker than most essences, but still spreads amazingly. It glides over the skin like a creamy liquid and is quickly absorbed into the skin. I love how pleasant it feels. The texture has an almost unnoticeable lavender scent that reminds me of the “purple energy” of this flower essence. The scent is soft and sweet, not too strong. It reminds me of my favorites, Elizavecca Peptide Bubble Cream with Centella Asiatica and Memory Cream.

I usually apply creams or moisturizers to damp skin, but Elizavecca Flower Essence Lotion eliminates this extra step; there’s no need to dampen skin beforehand. Still, old skin-care habits are hard to break, and I still find myself doing it sometimes.

But the most important thing about a quality lotion or moisturizer is that it doesn’t leave a sticky, heavy feeling on the skin. Retinolcollagen and hyaluronic acid! Hwa Yu Hong Flower Essence Lotion leaves no sticky feeling on the skin – in fact it’s so light that after a few minutes you’ll forget you have anything on your face, yet your skin will be left hydrated, revitalized and ready to take on the day.

material:

Beauty lovers shop for effective skin care ingredients, not the most attractive bottles on the shelf (though we’re not so sure about this one…) so let’s take a look at what’s in the Hwa Yu Hong Flower Essence Lotion formula.

One of the first ingredients here is coco-caprylate/caprate, an emollient that gives skin a non-greasy, velvety feel. Another great ingredient in this formula that caught my attention: Best known as Vitamin B, this powerful anti-wrinkle ingredient aids in natural collagen production and cell renewal processes.

Pure Shea Butter, also known as Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, is another moisturizing ingredient worth noting. It is natural, hypoallergenic, nutrient rich, soothing and a great ingredient for those with dry skin. The essence/lotion formulation simply facilitates the absorption of Shea Butter into the skin. Along with this powerful nourishing agent, you also get Panthenol and Allantoin, which I don’t think need any further explanation. These legendary skin helpers heal the skin, restore the natural barrier function and increase the skin’s moisture content.

The secret of “purple energy” is…

Elizavecca’s concept is “Purple Energy,” and it’s said to utilize a blend of six purple plant extracts to enhance the lotion’s lightweight yet highly hydrating formula.

‣ Borage (Borago officinalis) Extract: Nourishes and repairs dry skin.

‣ Cornflower (Centaurea Cyanus) Extract: Tightens pores and regulates sebum production.

‣ Hyacinth (Hyacinthus) Extract: Softens the skin.

‣ Lavender (Lavandula) Extract: Calming and healing.

‣ Salvia (Salvia officinalis) extract: Prevents acne and has antiseptic properties.

‣ eggplant (Solanum melongena) Extract: A powerful antioxidant.

Lotion vs. Cream: Which formula is better for dry skin?

Lotions are certainly great at moisturizing the skin. They provide a refreshing hydration without feeling greasy. However, due to their lightweight nature, they may not be the best for providing the lasting skin barrier protection required for extremely dry skin. I like to use essences and lotions on hot, humid summer days when makeup melts off my skin, and that’s when their lightweight texture comes in handy.

Creams, on the other hand, are convenient because of their thicker, thicker texture. Creams with high oil content create a protective layer that locks moisture deep into the skin. This makes them ideal for dry to extremely dry skin, especially during the harsh winter months. Creams offer a more luxurious and indulgent feel and provide long-lasting relief from dryness, flakiness, and irritation. However, the heavy texture of creams can feel oily and may leave a residue or clog pores on oily or acne-prone skin.

How to use Elizavecca Fayuhon Flower Essence Lotion?

Elizabecca Fayuhong Flower Essence Lotion has become an important part of my skincare routine, especially on those lazy days when I don’t want to put anything heavy on my skin. I like to use it under my BB cream or foundation. Here’s how to use it:

  • Beautiful Skin: First, wash your face with your usual cleanser to ensure all oil and impurities are removed, then use a Vitamin C and Centella Asiatica toner to further balance your skin’s pH for glowing, glass-like skin.
  • Lightweight Hydration: Now, onto the main part! Put a few drops of Fa Yu Hong Lotion onto your fingertips. Gently pat the lotion all over your face, focusing on dry areas like your cheeks and forehead. Using a patting motion, allow the lotion to penetrate into your skin without pulling or irritating it. If you feel like you need more moisture, add a few more drops.

Final Verdict…

The essence/lotion texture makes this product perfect as an intermediate step in your traditional skincare routine – use after your toner and before a thicker moisturizer – or use it on its own as an option for hot summer days or oily skin.

I like the feel of the cream, but not the packaging. It’s simple and convenient, but I would have liked this Essence Lotion to come in a dispenser bottle with an airless pump or something similar. Then I might re-store the lotion somewhere more convenient.

Everything else is great, especially the ingredients! I’m so glad Elizavecca included niacinamide, as with regular use it should definitely help with the redness on my skin, so I’m excited to see what happens.
